@Bruins de Boston

#hockey #nhl #faits saillants #bostonbruins #coloradoavalanche

  1. Ok, I'm a ref – this was, as you said, the refs "screwing the pooch". If Boston has too many men (TMM) on the ice, and they have the puck, the play should be blown dead. Nothing after that point matters, so you ignore the Avs TMM. (By the way, technically you can have 6 skaters on the ice at the same time, AS LONG AS the player coming on doesn't play the puck before the player he's replacing gets off.) That didn't happen here so technically Colorado had TMM. But, since the penalized team (Bruins) played the puck after committing the TMM infraction, the whistle should have gone to kill the play, and the Avs TMM is irrelevant.

This was a case of the refs getting together to try to minimize their mistake. But with all the cameras, the truth is easy to spot. I don't like calling out refs, but when they're wrong, they're wrong. And calling it like it is is what makes a good referee.

  2. I'm not gonna lie, I'm surprised so many Boston fans were in Colorado. It's one thing to see a bunch of their fans in eastern conference cities (not any less annoying but I digress) but Colorado is pretty far from Boston. That city must suck the big one to live in with all the people liking their teams moving away from there.

  3. If you watch the ref wearing number 9 he’s pointing to both benches saying “I got both of them for too many men”

  4. Have I ever seen shitty referreeing? Yes I watch the NFL and NHL diligently. Every day I see it.

    thanks you did awesome
i am a subscriber but will return more offen well done
    I am from Boston
I feel this is our year

  6. At the 1:55 mark on the video the wide angle shows that neither referee is calling a delayed penalty for too many men. They hadn't noticed yet. So when the Bruins touch the puck they are not going to blow it down. They don't notice until the Colorado too many men occurs.

  7. I was reffing a girl's AAA summer tournament and I had to call too many players 3 times in a row on one team because the dad running the door couldn't handle his duties… my partner and I even tried to help but no dice lol

  8. I was at this game and the entire sequence was super confusing to witness. It didn't help that there have been audio issue with the refs mics the last couple games at Ball Arena. In this case, the ref was completely muted so we knew it was too many men, but figured it was just on Colorado. When it was on both teams I remarked that I bet that's never happened before in the history of the NHL.

  9. This game featured outstanding play from both teams and both goaltenders, even though both sides had some bad gaffes. Fitting that it was tied after 65 minutes and two rounds of a shootout.

  10. I just hate 3 on 3 and shoot outs completely takes away from the excitement of games. The best team on the ice does always win. I really wish these would go away make a team sport back to team sport.

  11. Lol Refs not knowing how to do their jobs, and making calls to benefit the Bruins. Typical day in the NHL.

  12. Former lacrosse official here. I've seen co-incidental too many before. It's been years since I officiated a game, so I may be wrong on the boxlax rules but IIRC if the non-possessing team has two many men, its a delayed penalty. But if the attacking team butchers the goalie-to-the-bench swap …. you can see where this is going. Maybe some other Canadian boxlax ref with more recent experience (and a rulebook) can elaborate ….

  13. nah nah nah! there where still 6 boston players when colorado was called for it, u see the 6th player bottom right when the call the avs. =)

  14. I was at this game yesterday and we were all so confused lmao. The referee's mic wasn't working last nightbut I could VERY clearly read his lips that said "too many men on the ice". He then pointed in only direction and yet both teams ended up in the 4v4 lol.

  15. Not that hard. Delayed penalty for too many men against Boston. But then Colorado committed their too many men while in possession of the puck so play is blown dead and offsetting minors are called.

  16. Happened during the world juniors a few years ago between Canada and the US. Believe it was the gold medal game too

  17. I'm pretty sure the refs this year made slamming each others heads in the door before taking the ice their pre-game ritual.

  18. Dont care. Embellishment penalties is what we need. Hockey becoming soccer with grown men faking after every minor touch.

  19. As a linesmen i find the to many men one of the hardest to see. If you lose focus on the puck for just a second you can miss an offside, icing, high stick. So yes. The game is sometimes a bit to fast :p
