Imagine not even talking to or meeting the team that drafted you before playing a second in the NHL? What an entitled brat. Briere even flew to Sweden to meet him. His parents wouldn't even meet. Understandable not wanting to play for a team, but to just ghost them? Kid has issues.
Great move for the Ducks. I would have loved for the Hawks GM to have been in on trying to get that kid outta Philly

Power for Zegras
It's exactly what the Ducks needed, a power forward with some size. The Ducks are loaded with young talent now. Its unbelievable the young talent they have in McTavish, Zegras, Carlson, Terry, Vatrano and now Gauthier. Mintyukov on defense and some other forwards like Brett Leason, Max Jones, Lundestrom. Pair that with the veterans they have like Fowler, Gudas, Killorn, Henrique, Ryan Strome and Carrick, I think the Ducks future will be bright. The fans will just have to be patient as these young players grow. The Ducks also have a TON of cap space as well, actually the most in the league. 🙂 Their wins this year, though few, have included Boston, Pittsburgh, Vegas (twice), Colorado, New Jersey, Carolina, Detroit, Nashville, Philly, Columbus and a few other lower skilled teams. Point being, they can compete and they are fun too watch. Jacob Silferbergs contract is up after this season so I think he may be headed out the door. He hasnt produced much either. Then theirs talk about trading goalie John Gibson, who might they get in exchange? Another goalie, or another strong foward or D man? If they do trade Gibson I imagine it will be for another strong player for the Ducks. Wow.
Gauthier is the loser. Flyers have a much better organization than the Ducks'.

You need 10 years to decide who wins but elite right shot defensemen are harder to find and take longer to develop.

Anaheim just got fleeced hard! You never trade a known talent for an unknown possibility. Also, the unknown possibility is known to be immature and toxic. This has FAIL written all over it for Anaheim.

Their 6th forward is Frank Vatrano whois leading the Ducks in goals with 18, and is going to represent the Ducks at the All Star game. Who does he join on the NHL goal list with 18 goals? Draisaitl, Eichel and Guentzel. The guy is a pure sniper. There's your six. 🙂 If they can add Eisermann or Celebrini? Boing!
Don't sleep on Luneau on Anaheim. he is already passed Zellweger in the depth chart. The guy was seen as a top 10 – 12 ish draft pick in his draft year before getting injured and playing injured the rest of the year.
Anaheim is adsolutely stacked with big, young, talented players. They will be a powerhouse!
Phily just made themselves smaller they already had a small defenseman in York and now added another in Drysdale. Phily might be in for more trades.

Until i hear otherwise I am skeptical that Gauthier will sign with the Ducks. To me, this has all the makings of him going free agent in a couple years. Seems like a bit of a risk to trade one of your best defensemen. Brad Shaw has done wonders for the Flyers defense, so i think this coaching staff will be the most out of him.
I do agree that they will have to go back to the drawing board a bit when it comes to getting a franchise center. But that then begs the question. Did the Flyers view him as a center. Danny Briere in his presser kept referring to him as a winger
Ducks win this trade hands down. Yes, cutter hasn’t played a nhl game yet, but well worth the very minimal risk for his talent. Why didn’t he want to play for the Flyers? Is it tortorella? Most likely. Seemed like cutter would flourish in a torts coaching style. I remember when a torts led rangers team had issues with their star players. Gaborik and Brad Richard’s did not get along with torts. Torts wanted star players to make hits and block shots. To be fair, it’s hockey, all players should be doing those things. The other side of it, they are your superstars, they are being paid to put the puck in the net and not throw a hip check. You definitely don’t want your star players getting injured blocking a shot or smashing someone into the boards so I get both sides of it. With that, it’s surprising bc cutter seemed like a good fit for a flyers organization.

I’m torn if I’m a fan of either teams…. Obviously you HAD to get rid of cutter because Philly seems to be one of few teams that when a player requests a trade. They stick with wanting to be moved. And getting drysdale AND a second rounder quite the return for a player that wasn’t going to sign

It feels like Cutter didn’t want to play for Torts. If so, Philly will start looking at whether they need to move Torts rather than lose out on young superstars.
