No way you can miss a huge chunk of the season and still win the calder, it's going to Faber or Zary now
Connor you should go on road trips with the team ,while your healing, just like Connor Mcdavid did after his long term journey
on top of his great rookie season, bedard’s been the leagues sweethart since day one. he’s not a lock for it now, but still a good chance.

So for me I think there shoukd be two rookie trophies. One (the calder) for most points and then a second one for best overall play so that guys like Mcdavid and probably Bedard don't miss out being the best rookie because they got injured and missed a huge chunk of their rookie season. I guess it coiuld be like a Rookie MVP award kind of thing.

Horrible move to bring back Sammy. Have they learned nothing from the Alek Manoah situation? If they put Sammy back in net, and he gets lit up (he will) then MGMT has egg on their face (and THIS WILL HAPPEN 100%). Going to be interesting by end of JAn
If they don't bring back Samsonov then they risk losing Hildeby through waivers if they keep him up past a certain point.
You can't be the best if you only play 60% or 70% of the season.

Could be a year a D wins the Calder. Lots of rookies in the 20's of points.
Samsonov clearly struggles mentally with something. He's a pretty decent goalie normally, and was the biggest reason Leafs beat Tampa last year. It'll be interesting to see what happens in his next game. When it comes to Bedard – There's no way he win the Calder.

No one is really popping off point wise. Bedard has 0.85 Points/Game while no other rookie has over 0.70 Points/Game. So I'm sure you have to look deeper into some of these players defensive game to see their two-way impact. I'd say there is a possibility that Bedard could finish the season as the leader in points of rookies if he returns and maintains his point pace. But I do see the argument some people are making for not wanting to give someone who missed a chunk of the season the Calder.
Bedard is the next Eric Lindros talk about keeping your head down. If that was a hit like Stevens give Lindros could have been much worse.

Anyone happy about bedards injury has never played hockey higher then ccmensleague.
There is only one reason why they'd ever play Samsonov now… the 'showcase' a trade chip. It makes no sense. If they keep him, I predict the Leafs will lose 7 out of 10 games he plays. Just end his time as a Leaf and move on. They already proved he isn't needed.
I just wanna know when is Woll coming back. He's looked solid for years now. Why can't we just put trust into him as our #1. Jones is better than Samsonov as our 2nd. Dubas is the goof that signed him and Murray. I don't care if Samonsov has a few good games, come playoff time he's too sketchy and all faith in him should be gone. If Leafs need a change, look no further than the coach.

Samsonov is of no use to any team in the NHL so Laffs can try to play the wheels off of Jones and maybe toss Samsonov in when they have no choice then Woll returns and ….
I feel like if they were gonna call Sammy back so quickly they should've given Hildeby one of the games against the Sharks just to give him a taste of the NHL… But who knows what was going on behind the scenes.
Also no way Bedard wins the Calder with how much time he's gonna miss, the rookie pool isn't nearly shallow enough for that this season.
