Gauthier owes no one an explanation. He is a professional and like all professionals he has the free will to make his own career choices. All these death threats are just unhinged.
Zero respect for him. If he would've handled it like a "business", it might be different. He wouldn't even meet or talk to anyone in the organization for a long time. I don't wish death. Just a very short career.

As a die hard Flyers fan he for what ever reason didn't want to play here like Keith Jones said he didn't want to play here goodbye. Philadelphia teams are my home teams i love all the teams as a Philly i want my team and the other team to go out play hard and beat the crap out of one in other within the rules but i don't want to see any players hurt on both teams . Gauthier for what ever reason didn't want to play here that is his right . For the people who want Gauthier & Hayes harm or there family members need to stop following sports all together. . last season Hayes & Gauthier played golf together who knows what they talked about the reports are because of that the reporter Tortortella gone off on got the story . No issue if he doesn’t wanna play in Philly, but it’s seriously disrespectful to not sit down with management and tell them why or to let them tell you their vision for the future. Have a meeting and then say, yeah not thanks and that would be the end of it.
I get it Flyers fans, really I do, but here are the facts. The league allows him to reject the team that drafted him. He doesn’t owe anyone an explanation because it would inevitably insult or hurt someone’s feelings and nothing positive would come of it and a young guy just starting his career doesn’t want to have that drama following him. And what 20 year old professional athlete about to become a millionaire would prefer to live in Philadelphia over the Newport Beach Coast? This Duck’s future is as bright as the Flyers. He’s played with several Ducks before. The coach isn’t going to play head games with him, the fan base in Anaheim won’t hound him and the local press won’t beat him up when he has a bad night, and he’ll be a 20 yr old good looking single wealthy man surrounded by the most beautiful women in the world. SO he’ll get booed when the Ducks play in Philly and someone will check him hard and then someone will get in a fight. So what? You don’t think the Ducks will be just as excited in those games? No one fears the Flyers in 2023. Leave him alone and move on. He played a messy hand but it got him what he wanted so good for him.
