I’m sorry why is Mccabe starting OT? Is Reilly dealing with an equipment issue or something? Why is it constantly personnel issues in overtime costing us games? Does Keefe not see the same overtimes as we do?

Why in the hell is McCabe on the ice in overtime on the top line? He is a 3rd line d-man, talent wise. It’s 3 on 3, you need speed and passing ability. Things he has neither of. Keefe is just an idiot sometimes, it’s wild.

That was the worst play I’ve ever seen from McCabe. Marner wide open calling for it and decides to completely ignore him so he can try to be hero of the game by giving it to Matthews who is a gigaparsec away. What a silly ending.
Crazy how playing an actual team after 3 in a row against the Ducks and Sharks can bring you back down to earth.

While it’s easy to blame McCabe, the decision is Keefe. He lost the point.
The only thing I didn’t like about this game was how the Islanders would anticipate us curling back on every zone entry and they just smother our guy with like 2 of theirs, and we just kept… on… doing it.

McCabe is a pickup truck. Pickup trucks are fine, great even, in 5 on 5 hockey when the ice is closed off.
Overtime hockey is opened-ice hockey. Opened-ice hockey requires fast, agile, sports cars with lots of precision… not pickup trucks.
Keefe’s decision to put a pickup truck on the top overtime line cost us the game.
Keefe trying to galaxy brain that by putting McCabe out there is certainly something. He always tries to mess with the lines in OT and gets burned way more often than not. I can only assume Reilly had an equipment issue or maybe ended regulation with a long shift? If not then there really is no excuse. It’s a dumb coaching decision that cost them a point and has previously cost them points.
Mcabe fucked up in OT but Gio on the ice for the first three goals isn’t good on him.
