@Canadiens de Montréal

Very good very good. A 1st + a dece prospect seems like a good return here — I can see a bit of a bidding war.

    That’s too bad; I was hoping he’d stay a Hab for a while. ☹️

  4. Good!! Cash in while his value is high and keep gathering assets

We can get some nice pieces for Anderson Monahan and Allen but the team has to be willing to pull the trigger. Hope they do.

  6. HonestDespot

Too bad, really hoped he’d stick around for a few years.

My only hope (since it seems like a 1st is more or less guaranteed baring disaster) is that it’s a 2024 1st. I don’t want to be bad forever and I want the prospects to start to converge soon.

Anyone thinking that wasn’t the plan is just in denial. Monahan knew he’d get ice-time here and could get a gentleman’s agreement with Kent to maybe chose his destination.

2 2nds would be the dream scenario, don’t see us getting a 1st

    2nd + 3rd/B prospect and call it a day 🤝

  10. You some good veterans on a contending team and Montreal keeps getting them and then Giving them away all why not getting any better 🤷‍♂️ at this rate caulfield will be the vet by the time they reach the finals again

I think KH has a pretty solid rep amongst the players. He did right by Petry, he’ll do right by Monahan too (unlike mr « if you want loyalty get a dog ». that quote still pisses me off).

  12. It’s an absolute win to both parties.

Monahan gets extra ice time to prove his value

Montreal gets good trade value to a contender that they can retain salary on if they want.

Middle 6 two way forwards are by far the most valued piece going into the deadline, that’s a lot of value right there.

  13. He’s on pace for 23 goals, 50 pts and — most importantly — 82 games.

Playing C and at a hair under 2M, that’s a pretty good rental for a contending team.

The caveat is that Montreal will try to accommodate him as much as possible, so there won’t be any insane bidding war. He’ll pick between one or two prefered destinations, the return will be reasonable but not overpriced, and that will be that.
