  1. Can’t trade Marner. Full NMC. He will walk for nothing. He will do a 4 year deal at 12.5 million minimum

  2. Hey guys, great channel and fantastic episode as always. We are doing the exact same thing we have done for the past few years…Are we expecting a different result? Hmm…

I have to believe that Brad Treliving has got a plan here. He can't possibly be thinking of going through this season with the same core and a cast of nobody's on lines three and four, can he?

I'm thinking that the plan is to flip Mitch Marner for at least one, maybe two top defensemen or a top defenseman and a goalie.

    Thoughts, comments, questions, concerns?

  3. Paul Marner can pack his bags and go to Calgary if he thinks Mitch is worth more than Willy. Sign for 11.5 and call it a day. Willy is looking like the better player

  4. Ive heard multiple leafs talk about the cup multiple times not sure where nick is getting that from

  5. Total Greedy Marner. Already the day after Nylander signs and now the Marner talk has started. It's not about winning the cup it's about how much money. Let him walk, bye bye…..

  6. I haven’t seen anyone control the puck and stick handle in slow motion like JT. He’s ridiculous

  7. One issue in how one assesses these Leaf contracts is the one of tax rates. Whether Nylander is a Canadian, a Swede, or both for tax purposes, the bottom line is that he is subject to a top marginal tax rate well in excess of 50%. Someone like Matthew Tkachuk, in comparison, is subject to a top rate of 37% (Florida has no income tax). As such, Nylander's $11.5 million annual salary is roughly comparable to Tkachuk's $9.5 million in terms of net take-home pay (not even accounting for the cost of living). It's easy to chide and ridicule the Leafs for being weak negotiators, or blame the players for not taking a hometown discount, but the fact of the matter is, given the tax situation in Canada, that these contracts are reasonable (in terms of dollar amount). It is really hard for Canadian teams to compete for talent under a salary cap with U.S. teams in no-income-tax states; given that, give the Leafs credit for keeping its star players.

  8. Rosey is exactly right. Marner has tremendous skill, but not the physicality. When you isolate on his physical encounters he loses almost all of them. There are a lot of times he gets rid of the puck in order to avoid getting hit. Many of his recorded " hits " would not put a dent on a bag of marshmallows. In the regular season he is a superstar; in the playoffs his lack of muscle is a detriment. When he plays wìth Mathews in the regular season it's great. In the playoffs it is " where did they go? " he needs to score 40 + goals to be paid $11m + dollars.
The need of a clear #1 stud defenceman is clear. Reilly is the best #2 defenceman in the league.

  9. The only way this team find success this season or next,is if they happen to find diamonds in the rough to support the core, I wouldn't take that bet.

  10. Dude , 8 year deal is helping Nylander , no god damn way Nylander is going to be worth 11 mil in 6 yo 7 years , 6 year deal would have been much better for leafs , 8 year deals are good for way younger players

  11. Well, are there not other possibilities? Getting rid of Klingbergs, Samsonovs and other contracts that doesnt give anything? Let players like Benoit, Holmberg, Lagesson etc carry the weight next year. The talk about the cap (on every pod) is getting boring.
