Honestly? It should have been our best shot in a while. Our boat anchor contract’s gone, good amount of cap space to play with, some excellent players on ELCs allowing us to spend where needed.
Unfortunately our organization decided to fire Dubas, roll the dice on a new guy and, through no real fault of Treliving ‘s, here we are.

But our best chance was last year. In my opinion that was the best chance we were ever going to have.
Now that Willie is 11 million… it’s just going to be a long, long slide into mediocrity and then struggle.
This isn’t about Willie but our ability to build something great and once we lock in Marner we will evolve into our final form: MidLeafs.
Sometimes great, sometimes not, but always, always we are Leafy.

Remember 2019 when the Blues were last place in January and stormed back to win the Cup. It’s almost like teams can lose games and still be good teams.
