do you think he’ll reconsider if I ask him very nicely to stay?

  2. hnglmkrnglbrry

Yup. He Princess Dianna revenge dress’d us.

  3. millysoilly

Lmfao well it was fun to enjoy that win for a whole 90 seconds

  4. thelordcommanderKG

Ok cool he lied to us. His last interview he explicitly said he didn’t request for a trade. Little bit of a bitter taste there

Don’t let the door hit ya on the way out

Edit, to elaborate: Elvis is a mental midget that is the defition of an overconfident and underperforming goaltender. Match that with his poor temperment where he will be « pulling the monster out of me »? He got his bag, likely the biggest he is going to get given his stats, and wants to leave columbus after they have given him repeated chances. see ya

It’s unfortunate that it came to this but honestly it just might be what’s best for both sides. (Hear me out)

For Elvis: he could really benefit from a change of scenery in general. He’ll be 30 by the time the playoffs start, it would be much better for him to be on a win-now team instead of a team still building.

For CBJ: getting out of the contract would be big. It (along with a few other contracts) was a mistake but at least it’s one that can be somewhat fixed. Again, Elvis will be 30 in a couple months, there’s a chance we’ve already seen his best days. He may be the best goaltender on the roster right now, but is he a true #1 still when this team is ready to compete? I can’t say so confidently.

Again, it stinks that it’s come to this, but sometimes you just have to cut your losses. This gives the organization more reason to focus on upgrading the position.

I am a known Elvis hater, BUT it is not unprecedented for someone to resend a trade request.

DeBrusk for Boston put in a trade request cause he didn’t like his current situation but then the situation changed and he took it back.

All I’m saying is if he starts getting consistent playtime again and we start winning games this could end up being nothing.

  8. marioish

I’m ok with that. He’s a year removed from an .876 SV% and the jackets could probably get something decent for him considering the teams that need a goalie

  9. SEND_ME_YOUR_CAULK

    Great asset management front office!

  10. We should trade him to Ottawa and let him battle Korpi for the starting spot again.

  11. hardlyindestructible

Not at all surprised after his comment about how he needed the win and now he’s laughing.

  12. Seattlekrakenlegend

I think the Jarmo Elvis relationship is just really bad

  13. jakeyeah111

this org is just suck a fucking mess. Where to start?

I mean, besides Jenner and Kuraly, do we have a single non-ELC player playing to their cap hit?

  14. iamelloyello

Haha, fuck. There goes our best goalie.

  15. EverlastingEvening

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out. Let’s see what an amazing career you’ll have anywhere else as an almost 30yro mediocre goalie.

  16. bearchild7

I’ll probably be downvoted for saying this but honestly, hope we retain half and get a deal done. The guy is too unstable and maybe playing somewhere new can allow him to move passed any mental blocks. But all I’ve seen from him here is high and lows in his mental game. How many articles can we find where he says “he’s blocking out the haters, he’s focused on getting back to a strong mental health, he’s deleting his social media, etc etc etc”. A number 1 goalie just can’t have that much outside attention on him all the time and succeed.

  17. hungarianirsh

Who would trade for his contract? He’s overestimating his value.

  18. Fabresque_

That celebration was towards suite 52, where the front office execs are. I knew exactly what he was doing. Love the guy and all, but this game basically changed nothing. He’s gone.

  19. mickeyhause

Any link for this? Not that I don’t believe, I just wanna hear from the horses mouth

  20. Fabresque_

We need the money to re-sign the kids. Let him go.

  21. Ok_Panda_3472

I can’t wait the day he’s traded, I’m very hopeful.

  22. ShartRat

I knew this was coming but this makes me sad. I need a moment I’m just gonna sit in the corner and cry

  23. CBJFAN10

Bye Elvis. Hopefully Jarmo is let go first so that we don’t make another Bjorkstrand-like trade again.

  24. TheDoubleL27

I remember getting downvoted in this subreddit throughout the year for saying fire Jarmo. Funny how fast things can change.

  25. indy_6548

It is what it is. He’s the best goalie we’ve got currently, but he’s a lot of drama. And his mental highs and lows take a toll on the team, I think. It’s crazy how big of an impact goalies have in the locker room.

  26. tayfshockey

As much as I love him; time to let him go.

Make a deal where we can get some relief from his contract, and he can go somewhere else and possibly be happier.

Bonus points if it’s to Ottawa and he has to battle Korpi for #1 again.

  27. hockey17jp

Elvis is too emotional to be a consistently good goalie and he’s way overpaid. Sucks that we’ll probably have to retain salary but losing him doesn’t make or break this team.

  28. THECapedCaper

Man this is just sad. Our players that want to stay here fall off a cliff and never recover. The free agents we sign don’t produce to their contracts. The good players we do draft and trade for bail as soon as their contracts expire.

Really feels like every time the team takes a step forward, they take two steps back. We laud Jarmo for making strong hockey moves but they never really pay off, so are they strong moves at all? The team needs a new direction.

  29. gilbert-brule

Matthew’s for Elvis straight up. Final offer.

  30. whatscoochie

I genuinely admire his self-belief and confidence, but this is his best season in a while and… he has an average save percentage. He’s not Shesterkin, he’s not Hellebuyck. He’s acting as if he’s some top tier goalie.

Not to mention him along with most goalies don’t have any trade value on the market right now, so it’ll be awkward until someone actually makes a deal for him. Which could take a while.

  31. OHstBuckeye85

Calling it now. Elvis wins Vezina next year.

  32. pkenny72

So there goes my hope that we win two Stanley cups with Elvis in-between the pipes and we put a statue of him outside nationwide arena.

  33. TheCourtJesterLives

Farewell to the King of Columbus.

  34. TheCourtJesterLives

God, this team is worse than shit.

  35. Ohio_Geo

Truthfully I was surprised he wasn’t booed at the game today.

  36. ArchipelagoMind

I’ll accept it. But losing the two most pro-Columbus players (Atkinson and Elvis) in a 3-year stretch has really hurt.

Hopefully some of the youngens can fill that void.

  37. I listened to his interview on the radio. He was referring to the drama from earlier as the “trade request” (ordeal). In context it sounded like he just fumbled his English.

He basically said he was really happy his teammates supported him tonight even after the trade request drama.

He avoided talking about it too much and told the reporter to focus on the win. He did say he wasn’t happy with his playing time in practice and that he was mad. When the reporter asked what he was mad about, Elvis said to forget he said that and be happy they won.
