If true, and no reason why it wouldn’t be: good riddance. Will enjoy seeing his oversized ego deflate brutally when he hits the league.
ETA that Athletics prospect ranking is all over the place but you can bet I chuckled at Gauthier not even being rated as an All Star, let alone the franchise player he seems to think he is.
So not only was Briere’s hand forced to make a trade, but his market was limited with teams who even wanted to touch Gauthier.
Great job getting the value that he did.
If Cutter or his representation expected less, they’re idiots. Why wouldn’t other teams be wary of acquiring him and getting rejected in the same fashion? It’s not like he has intimate knowledge of how the teams on his list operate in comparison to the Flyers. I suspect other teams will remember this incident for some time.
