Wayne Gretzky almost signed with the Leafs, but Ballard didn’t want to because Leaf games already sold out and couldn’t make more money because of the signing. So while this doesn’t align with the initial OP question, this one stings the most.

I haven’t seen him mentioned, top-notch goalie Bernie Parent. He played 65 games over 2 seasons and 8 playoff games. For the older people like me that saw him play with the Leafs, his most memorable moment was in the playoffs a brawl broke out and a member of the opposite team ( Philadelphia Douchebags?) threw his mask into the crowd. My memory is foggy so I don’t know if he ever got it back.

My personal favourite Leaf that only had a brief stint with the team would be Jumbo Joe.
Mostly because I grew up in the same town as him and when I was a kid I knocked on his door for an autograph while he was the captain of the Bruins.
