It is a mistake keeping this core. I would not resign Marner. He is not worth even close to what he will get and I’d rather them loose him for nothing then resign him. Keep that cap space and the space from JT and rebuild this team.
I’ve been a diehard leafs fan since the mid 80’s and there’s been a lot of horrible teams but I am really starting to hate this current team!
Zack, great show! There is no accountability with this organization. They are satisfied with the status quo. The only way anything changes is if fans stop going to these games.

From the outside looking in, Keefe has to go, Shanahan too. That's my biggest takeaway, but the entire culture needs a big shake up. Can't blame Keefe for blowing these leads and not manning up on the ice, but sometimes sacrifices need to happen. Feel for you guys. I don't like the Leafs but it's gonna suck for hockey if they don't make a run.

Zack, I can’t agree more with your point about this team needing leadership change for players who HATE losing. Every team in the past 5 seasons who is serious/have won the cup had at least 1 absolute horse/player with very intense competitiveness.

The “giving a shit” can ONLY start from the top and seep into the rest of the lineup from there. It can’t be funneled upwards from a Corey Perry. It can’t be fixed with deadline pickups as we saw last year. The RORs/Acciaris/Schenns can’t establish a new culture in 20 games and while they give a shit what happened when they were on the ice, that won’t change what happens when the guys on the top lines are getting out dogged EVERY SHIFT.
This isn’t to say there’s no room for a skilled winger or a sniper of a center. But that’s only half a team. You need passion and fight. Look no further than Lowry on the Jets. The guy doesn’t have half the talent of Marner or Tavares. But when the puck drops, he gives a fuck, will run through a brick wall for his teammates and makes sure the guys next to him know that. That goes so much further than being a “pros pro” as some people like call Tavares or giving fist bumps before the guys walk through the tunnel like everything is all buddy buddy when you guys have been playing like shit for the past week.
This team needs a major culture shift and it only happens by moving on from Tavares or Marner (and I say Marner instead of Nylander because Marner is the biggest culprit of overpaid complacency)
If we don’t fire Keefe then we won’t get anywhere in the playoffs. Time to fire Keefe. The clock is ticking!
