  1. He is easily one of the most likable and talented athletes in Pittsburgh sports history.

  2. I hope the flower comes home for next season as the back up on a very team friendly deal. Ned is going to be in high demand after the season he is having. Bring the flower home and give blomquist another year to marinate in the ahl. Every one gets what they want.

  3. Classy af. MAF is a legend and Pens are lucky to have had him on their team for so long. They threw him to the wolves at 18/19 years old. Yeah, I know he let in some soft goals but I blame it on the coaches for not trying a 1a-1b combo. Closest thing there was to that before Murray was Vokoun.

  4. If Ned doesn’t come back next year… Sign flower as the backup for cheap for one last hurrah with the boys…

  5. I still remember the day after we drafted him, reading the whole write up on him in the post-gazette on my back deck at my parents house. It was a bright blue sky and I couldn’t wait to see this lanky kid on the ice.
    What a champion 🎉

  6. 2003 produced a #1 and #2 that won rings and were icons are their respective teams. MAF got himself a few more and is an instant hall of famer. I still think Staal is a lock for the Hall of Fame as well. He was always the greatest among that family.

Matt Murray…remember when he was going to replace Fleury. Goaltender isn't like quarterback and now it seems like the age of the French Canadian elites with Roy, Brodeur, Fleury is coming to an end. MAF will retire. He passed Roy. Everyone knows that other record is unattainable. Just like Gretzky's records. And guys like Fleury are the reason why. Goalies don't suck like they did 40 years ago.
