Let's face it. There simply aren't any trades out there that will make this team a legitimate Cup contender. Florida would decimate us. NYR/BOS would too. Why keep mortgaging the future for diminishing returns?
The window is closed. Let them struggle and learn that playoffs are not a right in this league, and come back next summer when JT's contract is off the books. If Marner is serious about winning he'll take a discount by then. If not, then he clearly doesn't have the right mentality so no big loss.

Where is John Tavarez when Mitch Marner blames the fans and media for the team playing 10 minute games? I've watched every game this year, which required a lot of effort on my part. Fans pay hundreds of dollars to go the game after battling traffic or the subway. This team needs a new Captain and to ditch Marner. John is tough, has a lot of class, and plays hard, but this specific team needs a guy who can hold people accountable. Sid to Toronto for Marner straight up.

You can teach a team HOW to win, but you cannot teach a team to WANT to win. If the WANT is there enough, the HOW will reveal itself.
Button has horrible takes. All of Treliving’s trades last year were awful. Reaves, Klingberg, Samsonov and even Willys cooled down after his new deal.

If they are 500 team at the TDL then you sell. Bertuzzi, Domi, Brodie, Jones, and anybody not part of this core moving forward or who’s underpaid. You potentially look at moving Robertson and Timmins too if you don’t feel they are the depth pieces you want.
Hopefully those trade pieces gets you enough picks and prospects to make the off-season interesting with some high profile D and depth signings. Add that to a successful graduation of Minten, Neimela and maybe Hildebeast and it we could have a more balanced and complete team in 24/25.
Sell the coach buy a new one and set a new standard and culture. People can say its not the coach it's the players but they need a change ASAP. We have how many bench minors? How many games have we lost against medicore teams? How many games have blown with the lead? Like Tree said when he came in its not on one player or the core its about whats around them i think we need a new voice and a new set of standards
