  1. On the 1st and 2nd Oilers goal watch the back-pressure of the Leafs forwards. Late, out of position and not pressuring the puck carrier.
All of you keep picking on Brodie as if it's just him that is the cause of the problem.
It's a team issue, a whole system. Brodie was not great, so were a lot of the other players out there.

  2. I generally agree that you dont need to have played to understand the game.
But goalies? Yeah, you kinda really do. There are so many different variations on how to perform any given task in net that not every goalie can do it the same way. Just as an example, Vasy covers his posts by literally sticking his head out and snake wrapping his back up against and around the thing. Guaranteed no one ever taught him to do that, but it works because it fits his style.

Same with judging whether a goal was actually a good goal, or what saves are actually difficult. Sure, there are obvious ones, but there are many times where someone might look and say "ugh, they had to have that" but another goalie will look, recognize the reaction, facial expression, and stance of the guy in net and be able to say "oh, he was actually completely screened and had to guess".

Same will happen in reverse. The reaction time needs to be so fast, that most saves you make arr not conscious decisions. You just move, and really you dont know why or how you knew where the puck was. A large number of those instinct saves are the mark of either a great goalie for that level of play, or someone who is just in the zone, and the way to tell is by recognizing the body language from your own experiences.

TLDR; Best place to ask for opinions on goalies is from other goalies. There is a lot of nuance to their body language and habits that only another goalie will recognize

  3. The time to win was last year, when they had O'Reilly, Schenn, Acciari, and Lafferty. They finally brought in veterans last season who offset the Leafs tendency to shrug at adversity and bow out in the first round. That was the first time they brought in the right veterans that gave them a chance to win and not just a bunch of guys who are also veterans. Now because of being in Eternal Cap Hell, they have to create a new team around the Fab 4 and Rielly every trade deadline. That's the cycle they've been locked into for years and they haven't had a legitimate starting goalie since Andersen. Every offseason, when the Leafs can't find the goalie or defencemen they desperately need, the GM has to show that they do things and spend to the cap on random forwards, so they have no cap space to address defence and goaltending.

  4. Listening to Terry Ryan talk is so unexpectedly enjoyable. I really would love to buy him a beer and just listen to him telling stories from his days of playing hockey, stories of lessons learned in life. Just, whatever is on his mind. Such an eloquent speaker & excellent story teller. I really hope he is able to parlay all of this into an almost second career in and around hockey.

  5. Adam has turned into the BIGGEST Leafs apologist on the whole internet. What happened here lol, he used to be the most negative of the 3. How are you going to stick up for John Tavares and Bertuzzi's play recently, just rationally? How are you going to stick up for Brad Treliving's offseason lol, that's nuts. What more do you need to see

  6. Might be out of a playoff spot by the end of the week??? They could be out with a loss tomorrow and wins by Tampa and the Caps.

  7. Brodie is plus 11. Ceci, Holl and now Brodie. Forwards need to play two way hockey. How many times have we seen Tavares coasting back into the Leafs zone as the other teams goal celebration was ongoing. Easy to blame the goaltenders. The defense. Play run and gun the forwards need to score more. They cant.

  8. Adam, i'm awake 17-18 hours daily, when you work 12-14 of those…so there are crazy people that are awake those kinds of hours

  9. The core 4 and upper management are in on the joke too bad the rest of us are too emotional

  10. Can we throw in another name in to the worst contract conversation – Seth Jones making 9.5 million on the Blackhawks

  11. Seems firing the coach worked for Edmonton, no? Do you remember how badly they were playing before the change? I think a coaching change would not hurt the Leafs.

  12. Don't try and act like you guys ACTUALLY don't understand why football fans are upset with the Taylor Swift coverage 🤦🏾‍♂️
Obviously it's not because she's a woman watching football, it's because people would like to just watch the game and not have the camera cut away to after her every other play

  13. I don't want to be the "well actually" douchebag, but 17-hours WORTH of meetings does not mean one 17-hour meeting (ʘ ʖ̯ ʘ)

  14. So funny to hear leafs fans say Nurse is the worst contract in the NHL when he would be the best dman on the leafs. That same summer Seth Jones and Werenski were signed to 9.5 mil contracts in July. The oilers signed Nurse in August because of those contracts. He's overpaid by 2 mil. Lets calm down.

  15. The Leafs are on pace to never win a cup with this core, become ass again, then draft Leo Dangle first overall when he is 18

  16. Leafs have the same amount of wins as loses. This team has always been bad idk why people think they're contenders every year

  17. 4:40 Steve Audibly rolling his eyes at Adam's GARBAGE Takes "I will not have it, I will not have it" — That was one pissed off Dangle. The show desperately needs a change in the "A" chair. Get Sid Seixeiro – get Tim Micallef – give it to Jesse. The show is starting to exude a toxic energy. Let Adam work on the business side of things – keep Agent Provocateur – and see what kind of numbers you do. ☣

  18. I have always found the podcast entertaining, though I will admit the "toddler that sits in the middle and screams the whole show" bit gets old every now and then

  19. 15 : 58 They bring up the quote from Treliving after calling him a liar and trashing him and the quote says 17 hours worth of MEETINGS in other words that 17 hours was spread over multiple meetings not 1 and none of them say sorry we got that wrong . Dubas never said he was trading ANY of the core he said if something like that were done it would take a lot of time and work but he would CONSIDER making any move that would help them win a cup .

  20. Adam “how many goals per game have the oilers scored over their 11 game win streak?”
    Steve, genuinely “52”

  21. We gunna talk about Ryan marrying his dead buddies widowed wife? That's pretty wild. Entertaining interview for sure.

  22. 'I think victor hedman is better at talking to the refs so he should be captain' … its really starting to dawn on me how much adam and steve just talk out of there ass. Somehow jesse blake has become the most knowledgable person on this podcast barring steves outdated leafs knowledge.
