This isn’t confidence inspiring for the playoff chances

  2. JustAnAsteroid

I’m not too concerned. Either they play to their potential or they tank. Neither is terrible. If they tank, change for the better is forced. If they play to their potential, we get cup.

Honestly? Good. We suck against the bad teams, so I barely care which games are meant to be “easy games” anymore. Maybe being more used to tough competition day in and day out will be good for them in the playoffs. Either way, you won’t catch me shedding a tear for difficult strength of schedule.

gonna go 1 step further and say this is good because it means we’ll *have to* be hot if we do make the playoffs, vs. other years where we start the season hot then limp into the playoffs

  5. ricas77

Good. Leafs traditionally play better against better teams.

If we miss the playoffs can we all please agree Keefe needs to go?

  7. billyshin

I’d rather they lose these games so I can see some real changes to this team.

That locker room needs more work.

  8. Jesus, why do you give us your hardest battles?

  9. Shabloinks

Do we have our 1st rounder this year?

  10. Jmac24mats13

This is good. They’re under the gun right now and this should elevate this team. If it doesn’t they’ll lose and Keefe will be gone, and hopefully a new voice sparks this team and goes on a hot run into the playoffs

    Haha

This core won’t show up, they already got paid, nothing in for them

  12. Gradieus

A month ago they had the easiest remaining schedule.

Painful to say it, but does anyone suppose it might actually do this crew some good to miss the playoffs this year? I don’t think most people realistically envision this season as “our year” and I’d hate to see them move future assets to pretend it could be something special this year. Maybe the bitter taste of failure could make plant a seed of actual ambition in some of these kids who fail to see any problem in what’s been going on thus far.

I’m not worried, we handled Avalanche and Oilers.

Both teams won in the final few moments of the game and some serious ref mishaps.

This is a good thing for a multitude of reasons.

    * Playing against good teams will keep them sharp
    * We usually play better against these « hard » teams
    * Winning games against teams ahead of them will pull the Leafs up the standings and bring others down especially within the division/conference
    * I’d rather they go up against other playoff teams and prove they can beat them than coast into the playoffs

Worst case scenario it forces some serious change to happen. We’ve got the offense we just need to shore up the blueline so our goalies aren’t getting shelled. After watching them play the Oilers the other night they need to work on communication and positional coverage in their end instead of just being a clump of bodies in front of the net.

Couple of guys are slumping right now as well and haven’t been scoring like they should be. I’m not concerned about the last 4 games, it happens sometimes and considering they have what is technically their third string goalie in net it’s not surprising they dropped games with the amount they have been leaning on him. Woll should be back soon and to take some of the pressure off Jones who has gone above and beyond for this team. They just need to reset and get the boys focused so they can start moving in the right direction. If Keefe can’t do it then they will find someone who can.

Looking at SOS in hockey with half a season left, is pretty dumb lol.
