Does anybody remember how bad Broberg was when he was playing? Kulak's contract is not great, yes, but I do not think that they are 1-for-1 substitutes
Knoblauch and Coffey.
When I first heard Coffey was coming in as a replacement for Manson I thought 'here we go again with the old boys being recycled' but he seems to have given our D stability, which in turn seems to have increased Skinner's confidence.
As much as I like seeing McJ score 5 a night, this version of the team is much more of a playoff threat imo.
absolutely zero reason to change ANYTHING on the blue line
Not thrilled on the idea of discarding Kulaks veteran presence. Also local area guy.
If you trade Kulak and move Broberg to the active roster… who plays when they inevitably get injured on the backend. What happens if they have a couple injuries? You don't win championships with zero defensive depth.
Here's one which one would you have Corey Perry or Jake Guentzel
Vegas traded a 1st round drafted prospect for Barbashev, and Colorado traded a 1st round drafted prospect and a 2nd round pick for Arturri Lehkonen, and a 2nd round drafted prospect and 2nd round pick for Josh Manson. So, I would say both those teams moved some capital to win the cup.
I don’t understand how we wanna get rid of kulak and keep Ceci that just baffles me.
The team is doing good on its own. Not sure bringing in a possibly destructive personality like Perry is a good idea.
Early losing streak : Jack Campbell
I’m shocked you are saying trade Kulak! I get the money but…
Our D is playing lights out, and not too mention Kulak is a local guy and has proven he is experienced, and a very good playoff player as well!
I’d take Kulak over Broberg any day of the week!
Anybody they bring in better be better than Broberg, Rodrigue and Lavoie, I see them bring in old guys every year, still no Cup
I remember the year when Holland bought in Darren Helm right out of junior, and he was a catalyst to win the Cup.
Can't trust Broberg. He is nowhere near as reliable or tough as kulak.
Really hope they don't bring in Perry, haven't been able to stand the guy his entire career and he was let go for clear character issues, just makes the team harder to root for, plus Guentzel is younger
Glad you guys don’t manage the team Kulak rises up during playoffs he is affordable in cap era also Kulak plays tougher then Broberg ever will
I agree w most of what Frank says. To say you can swap Broberg w Kulak is just wrong.
How many Cups did the 'old boys' win? How many Cups have the 'new boys' won? It was said in many places that Evander Kane would be a negative influence on the team. Hasn't happened. Why would it be that way with Perry? Oilers have a strong leadership group. That said, I don't see there being any problem with Perry joining the team. He'll be welcomed and fit right in. He'll bring considerable Stanley Cup playoff experience and some much-needed nastiness. Your mission Ken Holland is this: Kidnap him and bring him to Edmonton.
Still believe oilers would have could have if there coach made right decision in goaltending they still have Vegas a battle but with the two times in that series last game win or go home game before Skinner let's in 4 or 5 yanked then Campbell comes in and plays great then next game do or die I almost choked when I heard woody was putting Skinner a rookie still just lost a big game pulled Campbell comes in plays great why he would put Skinner who remember just let 4 or 5 in and pulled then coach puts him back in a very stressful game do or die and Campbell played good and more experience I still think is Campbell would have started most people probably thought same thing but puts a rookie who just lost and pulled back in net for such a important game Campbell could have taken them over Vegas I still think oilers are a better team then Vegas but there goaltending was better that's it I think if oilers get Vegas again expect them to be more dominate against them in playoffs
I disagree with him only thing would be another goaldie but don't change anything else there clicking as a group and one wrong stupid move could destroy everything gained leave it alone only if they can get a experienced goaltender and not for anyone off the main core of team I like Cain up with Drisittle on second like he has looked good and Drisittle likes it cause Cain can pass with him and both are goal scorers
We always fall in love with the unproven player in the minors for a cap savings. I would love for broberg to play 10 games before he is slotted in as kulak replacement.
I don’t think has the ability to pull off a trade that would truly benefit the oilers. He just doesn’t have the chops like a Kyle Dubas to move players and money in a multi-team, multi-player deal.
