A better effort can't make up for the lack of talent on isles. Or the poor coaching too. Lucky contending jets didn't beat isles worse than 4-2. pk gives up another goal as pp goes silent-again. Outshot-again. And caps won to move into three way tie for 9th with pens, isles. Only good news to come out of this game was useless pierre was scratched, listed as day to day. Too bad that wasn't a scratch for the rest of the season. I bet ishkatov could add more to offense than pierre can-if called up. Which will never happen. And i can't stomach the ahl report. Funny how ahl B'port resembles isles-borderline playoff team that routinely gets outshot loaded with a lot of never were never will be 'prospects' with little scoring punch. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO HAVE A CHAT WITH SIROKIN AND TELL HIM TO STAY INSIDE THE NET SINCE TOO MANY GOALS ARE LET IN BECAUSE THE NET IS LEFT WIDE OPEN. 2ND THE OTHER PRE-MADONNAS ON THIS TEAM NEED TO PREVENT THE OPPOSING TEAM PLAYERS FROM CAMPING OUT IN FRONT OF THE NET NEXT TO SIROKIN AND THE ALLEGED SCORERS ON THIS TEAM NEED TO FIND A WAY TO HIT THE TOP CORNERS OF THE BACK OF THE NET.

Sorokin was fantastic tonight! It shows how bad our depth is that our minor league club is so bad we need to replenish the system but I don’t trust Lou to do that he keeps selling assets idk
Gm Gil. Once again the penalties added up. 2 penalties by Riley, 1 by Dobson and 1 by Lee. This team isn't good enough to spend that much time in the box. while it was evident that Lane was very unhappy, we won't see any action taken. the penalty by Dobson should result, given how frequently he sits in the box, in him being a healthy scratch 1 or 2 of the next games.

We need to turn this around and fast, so we don't experience what we did about a year ago.
I know that we don't really want the Isles "barely" winning but when you look at the fluke pop up goal in the Predators game, and then the skate blade score last night, we have had some bad puck luck too. Let's say that goal was never made and the game ended in a regulation tie. That, and/or then a possible overtime win would change the narrative. It would be they played hard against one of the the leagues best teams. I think you have hit things on the head when saying that when the Isles are "on" they can hang with anyone in the league. I myself am at a lack to figure why they are so often mentally not present in games. This team is not nearly physical enough. Even the so called savvy vets are taking bad penalties (and at the worst times). They seem to play "numb" then desperate too much. I have strong feeling we are gong to be an also ran this year. Close but can't get over the hump. even if we do make the playoffs I don;t have faith we can sustain the required level of play to not be a one and done type team. Too bad.
i really worry about permanently ruining sorokin…this team lou is committed to is only gonna get older and more frequently injured and sorokin can' t face 40 plus shots a night for his whole career….and his backup who is also locked up and is old and always hurt. lou can really really ruin sorokin permanently and he'll never reach his potential with his immense talents. just crazy lou spent half the offseason locking up varly and mayfield..just a terrible terrible job lou. we are in real trouble…not saying lane is even a decent coach , but this is not on him…the team is just not good or well built and has so many aging players or marginally talented players with ridiculous long contracts and no trade clauses on some of them to boot….one point lou if its an empty netter , it does not count as a shot on goal against sorokin! stupid point and an oversight im sure

Gil, at times when it was 5v5, I thought the Islanders were on a pk, just sloppy. The goal when Sorokin lost his skate was terrible luck. We are playing Sorokin into the ground, we need a change in either players or coaching. But that’s just me, have a good one
Oh boy. The worst ice I’ve seen. Just awful for Canada? Barzy couldn’t move the puck. 40 shots on goal against Minnesota and 41 against The Jets. Saw before the game Lambert said “enough is enough” describing the effort. He is at his wits end with this team. Well in my opinion, the second half of the second period, the Jets upped their game and the Isles had no answer. And this was without their superstar Schiefle! Then puck luck of the skate blade getting knocked off on that shot on the PK. I was like, why is he on his knees? Get up Sorokin! Never ever saw that ever. At the start of the third the Jets stopped skating and Lee scored. If they could have kept it going, maybe they could have tied it. I agree Horvat and Barzal missed each other and boy do they miss Casey. Dobber didn’t get nearly as much ice time as last few games and they needed him. Then Lambert practically double shifted him in the last five minutes. It’s gonna be a dog fight for the last two spots and the Isles are 3-6-1 over their last 10 and are -19 in goal differential.
Pelech has been bad for some time now. Mayfield continues to take dumb penalties. Tripped a guy with his foot yesterday. No reason for it. Isles did better with these 2 out of the lineup. Not sure if it will take time to get them playing better or do we go in another direction. I don’t see Lou trading them, but it’s still frustrating to see the same mistakes game in game out. It’s not a popular decision but i would trade pelech.
Hi Gil! Man I knew once these guys returned we would begin to lose. Matty, Pellech and Mayfield back and we go back to a plodding slow team. Barzie with Clutter? Yea that makes sense. Whally? I would accept popcorn and practice pucks at this point for him. Gil—The Count is clueless. You have to put your best foot forward—can’t separate Bo and Barzie. It’s just puzzling. So Engval scratched yet again—and 6 plus more years of that? When will Louless announce the signings of Matty and Clutter? I’m close to done Gil—-this is really discouraging!! We’ve been banboozled!! There is a difference between loyalty and stupidity!! Take care Gil!!
It's simple Good teams find a way to Win and Bad teams find a way to Lose and the Islanders even though they have some gifted players they are not a good team and coaching has alot to do with it and I really think a change must happen.

Good morning, Gil. Agreed. This was a tough loss. Looks like they played well enough to win it, except for the unnecessary penalties and the score board. I need to take back something I said the other day. Although I would DEFINITELY vote for you to coach this Islander team, I feel you would have all your time tied up in improving the Islanders play, as it should be. I feel you wouldn't have the time to work the podcast as well, and I would miss it. I would only give up the podcast if losing it means we win the Cup LOL. Talk to you soon. Let's Go Islanders!!
