  1. The Oilers next 4 games are against the Flames, Blue Jackets, Blackhawks and Predators. These are all winnable games so the win streak has a good chance to reach at least 16.

  2. As an Oilers fan, I'm a little surprised Gourde got a hearing for the hit. It was a major for sure, but I wasn't sure that it would require more supplemental discipline. It is however the type of hit that can't happen for sure.

  3. Maybe they should have traded Kuzmenko last year when his trade value was sky high and they had no chance of making playoffs…just a thought

  4. kills you to say good things about the oilers 😉 JK great job !! I hope both the Kings and Leafs miss the playoffs

  5. Well-deserved extension for JR. Having to undo Jim Benning’s reign of terror is not an easy task!

  6. Seeing that they re-sign Rutherford but not Allvin tells us what everyone pretty much already knows but just won't really say it out loud and that is Rutherford is really the GM and not Allvin, Allvin just has that title on his office door. And that's just one thing I don't get, why not just have Rutherford be the GM then and what's the point of having someone like Allvin ? Idk maybe I'm totally out to lunch here but yeah that's kinda how I see it.

  7. Ottawa deserves their failures this year after overspending on a useless veteran to snub a 21 yr old 20 goal scorer they then make him wait until after new years and pay him less than his ELC??? Absolute garbage gm behavior. I hope Pinto gets out of there

  8. In Kuzmenko’s defence, our 2nd line in general has been bad. As much as I love the lotto line, Suter isn’t a 2nd line center. Would rather see Pettersson back in that spot.

  9. Rutherford is getting up there in age, so hopefully he's grooming a successor right now. I don't care who's "really running the team" as long as the results are there on the ice and if they're not, management is taking action to address them. The only negative so far this season was the destruction of Kuzmenko's trade value. I think at this point, we're looking at a situation not unlike when Brock Boeser was thrown under the bus and management allowed his agent to speak to other teams. He had no value on the open market. When Tocchet realized this wasn't going to work, he either should have left Kuzmenko on the Pettersson line or traded him while his value was high – or at least when he discovered that Andrei wasn't going to be the second coming of Patrice Bergeron. Now, they have a $5 million anchor who a low of people now see as a one hit wonder. The job of a coach is to bring out the best in everyone, and so far, Tocchet has done that with everyone except Kuzmenko. And for everyone trashing the player, both Miller and Boeser were disasters last year defensively.

  10. I can't imagine what it must be like to be an Oilers fan this season. You went from drowning to lounging on the promenade deck, it's wild. As a Caps fan, I'm just happy to be treading water.

  11. Well for the Oilers now it's just a matter of, you have to lose at some point. Even if you only play San Jose 20 times in a row, they're gonna beat you once or twice. It's just the nature of the game and how even the league is. So the streak will end. Could be Saturday, or maybe they'll get a couple more wins, but either way it doesn't really matter. I'd say they've earned the right to lose once or twice with how well they've played lately.

  12. Nice to see Pinto come back, I do hope Ottawa still loses alot so we can get a good draft pick for the first time in a couple years, but it would be nice to see him do well this year and in years to come

  13. the solution with kuzmenko is an easy one.
send him down to the ahl.
if he doesnt go he doesnt get to play anywhere but collects his salary.
    addition by subtraction.
if someone claims him…salary cap.if they dont he gets a message.

old school vs new age ….hes russian ,old school works imo.

  14. Any chance the Caps get Kuzmenko? Already plenty of Russians on the Caps would he fit in? I'm not sure what Vancouver would want for him that I'd be willing to part with though. They definitely ain't getting Ryan Leonard.

  15. Can't stand Rutherford for how he treated Boudreau so unprofessionally. It's one thing to remove a coach, it's another thing to turn him into a lame duck and humiliate him publicly in the process. He couldn't keep his mouth closed publicly last season. It almost felt like he was playing a WWE style "Mr. McMahon" role to fill the seats when the team was out of the playoff hunt early last season.

Normally go for Canadian market teams when my Devils or Sharks are out of it and know that Canucks fans deserve a cup, but I find it hard to want that guy to touch another Cup.

  16. As an oilers fan. I’d be
ecstatic if they want just one more game…

I’ll be driving down south for it 🤞🏼

  17. I find no matter how long the winning streak is it’s not good enough for most people. Either the teams were “too easy” or they didnt win convincingly enough

  18. The crazy thing to me is that if the Oilers win tomorrow, half of their wins this season are on this streak, even though they had an 8 game winning streak separately.

  19. I recall when the Blue Jackets won 16 straight and were the hottest team in the world and then come playoff time were not able to translate the 50 win season into a playoff drive. I am not ready to crown the Oilers yet for as bad as they looked before and as good as they look now, what is the real Oilers team? Given how close so many of these teams are in both the East and the West, there are no playoff guarantees with half a season to play.

  20. I have the exact same canucks pennant in my room, except it's Burrows! nice find shannon

  21. I'm a Vancouverite working remotely for a company in Edmonton. The amount of trash talking from my coworkers there that the Oilers will sipping from the Cup as the Canucks are on the golf course in May is deafening lol. When swagger comes back, it overcorrects.

  22. Would like to have seen a mention of the Caps extending Aliaksei Protas. He's been really good for them this year.

  23. My guess is that Oilers get 13th win in a row, then lose 1 or 2 matches. Or not necessarily lose, but lose 1 or 2 points at least.
