Every year isn't a win year sometimes you need to retool we dont have unlimited assets if you trade away multiple drafts into the future those picks also lose value as you win more Vs a decent draft spot where Dubas wasted our most valuable pick at 15 drafting forward that was sent back to Europe and the rest is history. I watched Toronto beat Montreal with Ken Dryden was in net at MLG. The last time they won the cup I was 5. I have never been so pessimistic about this team. I don't see a team. You trade Jones and Samsonov or a package for Marc Andre Fleury to come in to mentor Hildeby and Woll and give you a reliable goalie.

Montreal needs offence, and has a lot of defence……Toronto needs defence, and has a lot of offence…..make it happen!
IMO – on the WIN/LA trade for PLD, the Jet's got so much back because the Kings were trying to clear cap space to sign PLD. If you look at what guys with $ commitments were traded for (R. Smith to PITT for a 3rd, T. Hall for a 5th, etc.) they had very low values.
Can you imagine what the Core-5 (Rielly included) would feel if Treliving started trading Jones, Bertuzzi, Domi, Brodie, etc. in order to accumulate draft picks? They would be elated knowing management doesn’t expect them to win playoff series.
Leafs fans would be ticked off.
Face it – winning the cup is miles away for the Leafs. Fan's need to resolve to just enjoy them as the highly entertaining team they are to watch win or lose.
