1. Hes gonna stay with the team (Probably) . But the fact that we could see him get qualled is worrying. A team like Chicago can overpay so much like 17 million a season so they cannot match and if they do its bad since its 17 million. But this also gives up 4 possible top 3 1st rounders. Maybe Montreal can free up some cap and find a true #1?

Don't be too worried though Nucks fans. Caufield who clearly loves to be a Habs and did took a whole season to sign. He should really still sign.

  2. Leaving Canucks when they're at the top of the league. Makes no sense!

Inconsistency?… they had a very bad year, made adjustments and now they're great… if this was the way around, maybe, but leaving now makes no sense.

  3. Yes, Sign with Detroit, play with Pellika, Edvinsson. Put him between Rasmussen and Raymond.

  4. If Pettersson left for nothing, it probably would almost destroy the franchise. So it's up to management to made a really hard decision. OEL's cap recapture penalty really kicks in next season, so they'd better decide before the deadline if he's affordable long term or if they're moving on. A 1 year deal to UFA status would be catastrophic, because unless the Canucks win the Cup in the next 2 years, he's not staying if he's a UFA at that point. So either get him signed long term for the money you know you're paying him anyway or trade him ASAP for the most amount of assets you can get.

  5. He wont leave. His idols were the sedins as a kid, He has great chemistry with his team (who is #1 btw with a young core seeking the francises first cup) and Vancouver is a beautiful place to live. terrible take to think he would leave.

  6. Not really! He's RFA and trading him will return lots of prices to build for future
Anything over 12m trade him he ain't worth it

  7. The success of the Canucks will be dependent on Petey and his contract going forward. Vancouver will be a contender every year of his contract if he stays with this core. The speculation is nail biting for sure but his number will be rafters in Rogers Arena when all is said and done.

  8. Oiler fan here , he ain't going anywhere ,no sense talking about stuff during the season, creating dramas, thats the media's thing and they seem to be doing exactly that for a few likes or views, relax

  9. Maybe your gm not having a secure contract until today has something to do with it thinking if he doesn't get a contract he leaves the negotiating to the new guy

  10. I think Matthew's signs fairly quickly ,he will be getting a pretty decent raise but i thinks that number is already figured out real close there won't be any dicking around if TO starts low balling, he signs somewhere else faster than a rabbit fucks, the way they end the season will factor in a lot,i think that will set the bar and Petterson will sign soon after, my guess @ 12 minimum, the teams they currently play for have the advantage? of an 8 year deal as opposed to 7 years for others idk how important that is, doesn't seem like a deal breaker to me

  11. EP is an exceptional talent, with highest training ethics, exceptional creativity, exceptional hockey intelligience, steps up in the big games, gamewinner, teamplayer, solid personality w/o an inflated ego. He has consistently shown this for many years now in SHL, NHL and the national teams.

  12. No one is indispensable in this world. If they have to move Petty because of unreal contract demands or because he wants out the Canucks will do ok in return and move on.
