Zibanejad could you for once hit the net? pathethic

  2. BroccRL

Dawg don’t interview quick after that 😭

  3. Quickie shutting down the video tribute “just another video” breaks my heart. Guy deserved the win

  4. denethors_tomato

Quick was PISSED. Can’t blame him.

  5. Mazzatti1

ONE. So glad I fell asleep and woke up for last four minutes. Can see it was a shit show from just that.
TWO. Where’s the dickhead on here who said they were going to the cup two weeks ago? Wonder if the dickhead has seen the truth.

  6. Key-Tip-7521

JQ in his interview was damn pissed off about the questions about the video for him.

  7. RainandPixels

Quick needs to slam his helmet and tell everyone to wake the fuck up.

  8. DropAGearNDissapear

Not like I needed another excuse to drink, thanks Rangers. Fuck you, and I’ll see you tomorrow.

  9. JPmoneyman

Mika needs to figure it out. He’s certainly not the only problem but but the guy is getting paid 8 million dollars a year to trip over himself with the puck on his stick and miss the net shooting, LA was shutting down the bread line, we went 22 minutes tonight without a shot on goal, that’s unacceptable. I don’t care that he has a bunch of powerplay points he needs to produce offense at 5v5 because if he doesn’t this team is going absolutely nowhere. He had a great game vs the Kraken, but otherwise what a miserable season for him. The good news is I feel like most of our best players have so much more that they can give, it’s just a matter of them actually playing to that potential.

Every game that goes by my suspicion grows and grows and now it’s not suspicion anymore, it’s just fact.

The New York Rangers will not win a Stanley Cup with this core and therefore will not win a Stanley Cup for the foreseeable future.

It’s simply not a core that puts in enough effort to win, and we can’t easily retool because of all the NTCs. So, there you have it. A core incapable of winning a Cup, locked onto our roster for the next five years at least, and then we have to go through another whole rebuild on top of that.

This issue came with the last core too – and the common denominator is Glen Sather. His grubby hands are ALL OVER this team’s constant dump and don’t chase, shitty effort, Goodrow’s mere membership on this team, all of it. This team will be much better off when he leaves the organization, however it may be.

My only hope is that a mix of the current young guys and the prospects still simmering can come up and make the later half of this decade an actual contending core – and some of these players we’re waiting for are really good, so that’s cause for future optimism.

  11. ayykitten

“What did I ever do in this world to deserve an empty-headed, fucking dumb fuck like Barclay Goodrow to go out there on the ice and fucking lazily skate around?”

  12. jkman61494

I mean. Even an optimist had to have known our winning wasn’t sustainable. It was propped up by a Hart Level performance by Bread, Trocheck acting like Sidney Crosby for a month, Jonathan Quick being the best goalie in hockey for 6 weeks and a power play hitting in a near 40% clip.

You can’t win long term when your 3rd and 4th line centers have 2 goals combined. Can’t succeed when 3.6 million has 4 points. Can’t win long term when you’re franchise goalie is playing average. And you sure as shit can’t win long term when your 1C and 1LW can’t produce even strength.

It’s a weird year. The FLYERS look viable this year.

There’s still time. But what we see now resembles reality moreso than the first 2 months

  13. I knew that the Rangers were going to lose this game as soon as Sam and Joe mentioned that the Kings 1 and 11 in their last 12 games.

  14. inTikiwetrust

Anyone have a read on Miller’s ice time after the second LA goal? Feel like I didn’t see him at all

  15. Key-Tip-7521

KREIDS REALLY, REALLY ANGRY, SAME AS JQ. GOOD FOR YOU KREIDS. GOOD FOR YOU

  16. so they’re *really* just gonna roll with these pairs that haven’t worked all year? zero interest in switching 55 and 79 to *see* if that helps anything?

the insistence on keeping these pairs is just ridiculous

  17. This team needs to stay playing mad instead of sad

  18. iamwilliamwit

How many goals did Kakko score? How many points did he have? Just curious.

  19. SlimedVenkman

    Definitely time for a players-only meeting…

  20. nyg2013

I’m the optimistic fan of the group, but this team/core has looked awful since the new year and the past doesn’t offer comfort

There are issues and they’re just not being solved at the moment…maybe they will be in February

  21. toxicvegeta08

    Takes

Goaltending:quick did fine. Great job by him. His 2 goals he got completely off positioned after tons of weird puck bounces and couldn’t do anything abt it. Great game

Defense:did we have some shaky plays, yes, mainly in our zone. But overall offensive turnovers and the offense not generating killed us. I don’t know how some fans expect the defense to be perfect when the kings dominate puck possession because we can’t do anything inside their zone and immediately give them the puck back eventually even the best defenses would crumble doing that. Iam a bit worried about kandre considering g he’s with outskating and pushing guys around but they get past him somehow. His stick work keeps popping up as an issue albeit he did have some good plays defensively. Trochek had a bit of a down game defensively.

Offense:how do we let the kings both outskate and physically bully us. One good thing was at a point kreider finally started to use his size, mainly after cuyle got reverse hit pretty bad. Zib was nonexistent, kreider was existent eventually, but overall an awful first. Our d men played a good game offensively I will say albeit miller should’ve probably trusted his shot vs the kings goalie on his breakaway. One of the worst firsts ever and the third and second weren’t exactly gems either although far better.

Laf has the skills of a great player. But he seems to miss some gene that hughes stammer crossby ovi etc had that just let’s then put pucks in a net past a goalie. It’s pretty frightening. Aldo while Artemi did play a great game he really struggled scoring as well.
Despite the offense being bad for a while we had a lot of plays where we just couldn’t get through the goalie even after we broke the kings defense. One upside was kakko played a lot better offensively and not just in terms of puck possession.

Special teams: for the pp it seems like a phony unit. An aging tampa group outperformed us now and we should be out of the top 3 but injuries fucked with it and such. Our pp isn’t what it was before 2024 or even what it was before the florida game. The pk was a lot better again though and is getting back to its peak as one of the leagues elite.

  22. zucarigan

The team might as well just show a recording of the helmet throw incident on loop in the locker room because they need a wakeup call after EVERY FUCKING GAME

  23. nyg2013

The kings had lost 11 of 12? Wait what

  24. bunt_traume

Don’t be upset guys it was just some bad luck =^]

  25. Tommybrady20

F*ck it bring Brian Boyle down from MSG studios to bolster the bottom 6

  26. Dig-Duglett

doomer hours in the sub. everyone comment your saddest listen below, i’ll start:

shame in you – alice in chains

  27. Tommybrady20

If they lose one of these next 2 vs tanking Anaheim and San Jose this sub is rightfully going to burn to the ground

  28. Key-Tip-7521

Dave: « Get back on the horse tomorrow. »

    Kreids: « Exactly »

He nailed on the head. But seriously about this game tonight into the next day )1/21/24), that first period sucked, the 2nd period looked like a different team only for YOU GUESSED IT KEY THE TURNOVER MACHINE CAN’T PLAY DEFENSE. But, Kreids said it best, Boyle said it best, when the challenging times occur which it has for the entire month, gotta play through it and not cower and wuss out. « Everyone is in this together » Kreids and Boyle said. That’s what team is going through and what we the fans are going through. When we are handed adversity, giving up is the weakest thing in anything. Seriously. Gotta be battle tested.

As for the game, the final 20 period, liked the chances but the Kings played a good style of defense. Laf is really, really, snakebitten. But in reality, w/o saying to trade EVERYONE FOR OLD AGED VETS OF YESTERYEAR, that’s hockey for ya. the biscuit bounces in strange ways. Bad start to the game. gotta start better.

Disappointed. As what they said in the post game interviews, « back on the horse tomorrow. » Onto the Ducks.

Can’t get outdone in the first period like in tonight’s game.

    Onto to the Ducks

  29. Tommybrady20

In essentially any playoff series we ever are in from here on out, we’re going to have the lesser 1C in terms of ability to have a pulse 5v5.

Gonna be pretty difficult to accomplish any of our goals that way.

  30. kisswithaspell

I’m just sad, I dunno. This sucks so much. The past two months have sucked so bad. A dream season thats spiraled into a nightmare. It felt like they couldn’t lose and now it feels like it’s all they do.

I get so jealous of clubs and their fans like LA, Chicago, Pitt, winning multiple Cups.

I just want to see one. Just one fucking time. Some nights it feels like it will just never happen.

I know this post seems so ridiculous and hyperbolic and I know sports are not that serious but some nights your heart just fucking breaks, you know?

  31. Dig-Duglett

understand now that these guys are simply content to walk around manhattan in their two thousand dollar peacoats as young millionaires and nothing more.

call me dramatic , but after several years now it’s clear that the core members of this team simply lack the fire, the obsession, that comes with winning a cup. hopefully i’m wrong, but the problems of the early 20s rangers are as apparent as ever.

  32. iiKrOna

Positives? We only had to hear that shitty fucking goal horn twice

  33. hotlinedandy

Thankfully all star break is coming – whole team looks dead tired

  34. JaqenHghar

It was worse live. Zero inspiration.

  35. broadmeadowbk

Injuries have so screwed this team

  36. Superrandy

Switch up the lines for fucks sake. Like how much evidence does a coach need to make a change? It has been 7 weeks of poor play, and a few weeks of disastrous play. It’s time for a line blender. You can’t roll out the same things and think the result will change. We have seasons of evidence that Kreider and Mika don’t work at 5v5. We have seasons of evidence that Miller and Trouba don’t work. I don’t care if Wheels gave us a deal in the summer, he’s shit, move him on. Give up a pick and middle prospect to move Goodrow.

  37. LetsGoNYR

I’m sure this will go over well but 24, 79, 21, 6, 17, 12, 22 are not anywhere near good enough to be on this team if they expect to win a cup this year or next. You’ve had almost a month of evidence. Let alone an entire 7 game round 1 in the playoffs to know this. Stop talking about development of guys who are in their 4th or more year of NHL play.

  38. aLostBattlefield

Imagine the Rangers figured out how to handle a neutral zone trap? Ever?

You know: the same one that killed our offense last year in the playoffs? Or the same one that Carolina used to dominate us in the last game against them?

Imagine our players making quick, tape to tape passes? Imagine getting the puck deep and forechecking faster than the other team can retrieve it?

  39. InternationalHunt738

Tons of excuses on here right now. Fact is we suck. We are playing slow and uninspired. We are 2-10 this month. Are best players are soft little guys and while that is okay in the regular season it absolutely is a death sentence in meaningful games.

This team never gets dirty in your face goals. They don’t have the physical ability to do it. And the ones that do don’t play that way. Miller is or should be the poster boy for this roster…6’6 220 but plays like a wet noodle.

Laf was never anything special, and I was correct when I said trade him over the summer. Goal scorers …pure goal scorers don’t miss that opportunity he had in the final moments. If we got anyone out of this past draft’s top 10 for him it would have been a win long term. What are you going to do? That is being a Ranger fan.

Kakko is a huge disappointment also, not going to lie. Always have tried to give Kakko a little more leigh way but those days are gone. He just isnt producing and it is probably time to move on.

Laviolette needs to bench Mika. There is just no heart in him and he should just go do what he loves and retire from playing hockey. Unfortunately our genius GM gave him a guaranteed contract for the next 10 years. I see a buyout coming in the future…make room for the next Brad Richards! He too will go to a cup contender and win it with them instead of us. CAuse as a 2C or 3C he is great, but as a 1C he just doesn’t have it.

Someone needs to remind Drury this is a business. And he needs to do things so he can operate his business if things don’t go perfect. A good GM isn’t looking short term …like in the moment of that year. A good GM is playing 3 or 4 years down the road. Drury is not a good GM. Almost all of his moves have backfired on him. Goodrow, Trocheck, Buchnevich, Strome, Wheeler, Signing Mika long term. I hope we fire him but I doubt that will happen. I just know better.

we are in for some rough times here. Let’s pray Mika finds his will to compete in the next few games. Otherwise this is going to be a long ride to the bottom.

  40. The_Softest_Sink

Kings fan here, really worried about Adam Fox. Is he in stable condition? He’s lucky he still has a face after that play. Wishing him all the best in his recovery.
