Lane Lambert can't be a good coach unless he changes his ways. He didn't come in last year and set the tone early like Trotz did every season he was head coach. He didn't do it this past training camp either. All the great coaches in professional sports have to set the tone, certainly, Arbour did that
I wonder if Roy's hiring had something to do with Sorokin's struggles. Roy is a HOF goalie, of course.

Tremendous gap control in the 1st period led to several chances ( 2 glorious misses) then the 2nd was a typical NY period

after that wide right loss in Buffalo, AGAIN, yesterday, it reminded me of the movie Buffalo '66. have you seen it Gil? it's not entirely about the Buffalo Bills, but their history is an important of it. dark, sick humor, it's almost something that can be described as "you can't write this sh*t" and yet it is semi autobiographical of the main character. well worth a look imo.
The roy difference. You knew isles would win roy debut. Had to rally to do it. Yet outshot badly-again. Patrick has his work cut out for him. At least roy didn't have to stomach 18 this game. Fact-roy's sv. % went from .875 and .894 in reg. season to .923 and .929 sv. % in playoffs the two cups with habs. .909 to .921 and .913 to .934 with av's two cups. Dude could turn it on in playoffs. Clutch, mentally tough. Next up-vgk. Lame couldn't get isles to respond second game against teams they already lost to. Lets see if roy can do that.
Great points. Was so encouraging he talked with players, especially with Brock Nelson on several occasions. Padding them on the helmet. So good man-management. Also think Roy picked them up after a 2nd period where they looked tired.
You are right, it is too much to expect too big a change after one shift, and most of it, is probably some minor adjustments, which first period seemed to bear witness to, because I felt it was one of our best periods against a great team. We looked very solid in the first 20 mins. Perhaps Lane had also lost the dressing room, and some of the enthusiasm is getting a more animated coach, who the players respect.
Also very good PKs. Felt like we were actually closer to scoring than Dallas. Still
