No one else wants to help him besides sid and Jake thoes 3 can't do the work everyone has to help
Overcompensating, more like under achieving!. He's floating. There is no tenacity, conviction, or passion. No more riding Sidney Crosby's coattails.
I like it when Malkin beats himself up. He gets pissed and then will put up a 4point game. Also, Malkin has the most PP points on the team so far this year.
I don’t know why they put Malkin and Karlsson on the ice at the same time. they have zero chemistry. Malkins effort has been bad too. Demote him to 3c and send a message. He isn’t untouchable at this point of his career.
I think we need a better 2nd line center. Malkin is 37 and should be playing the wing. He still has skill but he doesn't get around as well. plus it will take away some of his responsibilities. I don't think it happens this season but I believe going forward he needs to be a winger, whether that is on the 2nd or 3rd line is something to watch. I'm not sure how well a 38/39 yr old malkin will look.
The more I look at this roster the more new faces I think need to be added in the off season if they plan on contending or even making the playoffs.
If there's anything that I think should change about the way Malkin is being deployed its putting him on the 2nd unit PP because there's no chemistry between him and Karlsson not to mention the PP still stinks as a whole which is on coaching at this point. But the notion of making him a 3rd line C is crazy because Lars Ellen is not capable of being a 2nd line C at this point in his career. And the idea of trading him him to get a second line C isn't feasible either because he's on a relatively cheap contract for a player of his caliber and the Pens simply don't have the cap space to add substantial salary to replace Malkin's productivity.
I'm sorry but I fully disagree with your analysis. The fact that Crosby plays with Guentzel who is a top 10 winger in nhl, yet somehow people expect him to produce at the same level as Crosby is insane. Crosby trust Guentzel 100% yet Malkin is suppose to trust who exactly. Also for the power play, the guy with the best shot on the team, yet somehow no one can feed him the puck for the shot. He'll great example, was the two on one Karlson could not feed him a decent past for his one time. Smh
Objective.
While Dubas does so little …..
Malkin just looks checked out. I see more effort out of Carter
@insidethepenguins reminds me when Mario couldn't get along with Zubov on the PP. What if the Pens came back to basics and keep PP1 like last year and put Karlsson on PP2, he performed in SJ because he was the star, perhaps putting him on a unit where he's the only star would make feel he has the freedom to be creative with the puck and Malkin being Malkin with his usual line mates?
