Injuries derailed his career. He wass as pure a goal scorer as I have ever seen.

If he was able to play a solid 1250 games and keep his near his all-time best goal scoring percentage (I think that would have been easy to do in the 80’s) he probably would have ended up with 850 or so goals, maybe 900.

Nine consecutive 50 goal seasons is still a record.

Why do players in the 80’s look like they’re 40?

The Isles should have brought him back as GM

I still say watching hockey in the 80s, Bossy was the one guy who when he shot, I expected him to score, more do than even Gretzky

what do Mike Bossy, Guy Lafleur and Borje Salming have in common?

They were all my childhood heros and all three……….

As a Rangers fan, he is the only Islander I liked.

Rangers fan, but his stats in such a short period of time. Absolutely incredible. Easily a top 10 NY athlete in any sport since 1970. Pre-1970, probably could name 10 baseball players – Yanks, Dodgers, Giants. No Mets as of yet pre-1970.

Homegrown 1970> (No particular order): LT, Jeter, Mo, Seaver, Ewing, Frazier, Gilbert, Lundquist, Mattingly, Bossy. Take out ?, add Eli. What Jet?
