Have always had a soft spot for Dowd back when he was on the Kings as an SCSU alum and am grateful for his contributions to the Capitals, but I would also be alright with him getting moved for the right price

If we want to push for the playoffs, Dowd is a critical piece. With that said, if we won’t be in then I can see us moving him for a nice price. Dowd has been a consistent fourth line grinder for us and I’ll always appreciate what he’s done in a red sweater.

I don’t think they should trade Dowd. He has term and is on a cheap contract–1.3M AAV is a dream, and outside of Lappy anyone else is going to be more as a replacement. There’s less benefit to trading a guy like that who creates a hole and would anchor the 4th line next year.
I guess if they gave a first middle of the road bubble team in the west, maybe.

Except the reason that everybody would want him are the exact reasons that we should keep him on our roster. He’s not the type of player or contract that you sell at the deadline, even if you are completely non-competitive.
He’s not good enough that we’re going to get a real compensation like a first round pick. And he’s worth far more to the team in a rebuild. Then his minimal cap space and potential trade value could bring.

Fuck no he’s one of 4 guys we got

He’s one of the last players they should trade, but if it comes down to it, make the team take Kuzy.
