It's not the fact the Letang barely hit him or not, he slipped and no one seems to be noticing how hard the back of Barkov's head hit the wall. So he tripped one, then caused the other to slip and got a penalty. Crowd boos, however when Panthers decide bring the smoke and fight back and bring that same energy and they get a penalty, crowd erupts in cheers. A game commentator was rooting for Pens so hard 🙂 He did not even admit the interference before the ref called it. As for "educated" watchers, it actually was kind of dangerous. Happened away from the puck; with Letang's experience, he was well aware that Barkov is not expecting and that boards are dangerously close by. So, a push is enough to injure the player.
It was not a 5 minutes penalty. However, it was a dirty play, just softly served. I hope that he gets a 1 game suspension. As well, he deserved all the retaliations.
