@Islanders de New York

#hockey #nhl #faits saillants #montrealcanadiens #newyorkislanders

  1. You should not call what Gallagher did a costly mistake. It was a deliberate violent cheap shot by a player who has always skirted the edge. No mistake. No excuse.

  2. Disgusting, that's intentionally trying to hurt the guy, not just stopping him.
    In public that'd be assault.

  3. Absolutely disgusting. He doesn’t deserve to be a HAB. But Gallagher doesn’t care. He knows he’ll get the NHL bare minimum.

  4. Monahan is basically paid league minimum on an expiring contract, can play on any line and wing, 5v5, special team, you name it. I think every single team looking to do any damage in the postseason will AT LEAST enquire about him to the Habs GM before the TDL.
I can see AT LEAST 8 teams that would look so much better with him in their lineup, with NONE of the usual cap gymnastics usually required to get such a rental.
He's been paired with the most snake bitten forward all season and still produce well, and is such a dream to coach.

Oh I forgot one last thing. One top of his defensive play, he's a wizard for faceoffs. Better stats than Matthews at almost 56% of the 700+ FO he took so far. Signing the guy for that 1 year 1.2M contract was genius man, but I never thought he'd get that good that fast given the huge injuries he had to fight the past 3 seasons.

I wonder what MTL is looking for in exchange.
Would picks only be okay or what? What do you guys think they would want?

    On the actual subject :
I don't think I ever saw Gallagher do something like that; he's annoying, sure, but something so blatant and dangerous? It's weird. Habs fans, was he interviewed about it? WTH?

  5. Aight yall you ready? Because this is another example of player safety absolutely SCREWING THE POOCH with the amount of punishment dealt out. That elbow could have ended Pelech's career, and there's no way you cannot say it wasn't intentional…at the POC, both skates were OFF THE GROUND.
Whats worse, Gally's hearing is BY PHONE. When a player ruins someones playing chances with a dirty hit, and the PSO can't be bothered with a live hearing, that is where i take GREAT EXCEPTION. Hits like this have NO PLACE IN HOCKEY. And social media is like "Don't skate through the center with your head down"….for the numb nuts that agree with that statement, SHOW ME IN THE RULEBOOK WHERE THAT IS AN INFRACTION.

  6. Hey did the policce officer with free tickets to view the game arrest gally for assault….

    Oh wait he's a cop….they don't follow laws….they abuse them.

  7. Has a habs fan this shouldn't happen i think as many days Adam is out so should Gallagher should be out. I like a bit of rough stuff but when it comes to this stuff in games i am not a fan of it.

  8. Based on the title, I thought it was going to be a comeback. After all, there is no place for the Islanders winning in the NHL.

  9. I think a good way to reduce the number of hits like this that occur are significant financial penalties. Pelech earns $70,000 per game, so make Gallagher pay Pelech's salary for every game that he misses to injury. Also, Gallagher should forfeit his per-game salary for every game he misses during his suspension, as well as whatever pathetically low the NHL fines him.

If Pelech out for 10 games and Gallagher receives a 5 game suspension, he'd have to pay Pelech $701, 000 and lose $396,000. Losing $1,097,000 – now that's a deterrent!

  10. I'm a life-long Habs fan and I've never been a big fan of Gallagher. When he was a "good" player, he was responsible for more disallowed goals than any player I have ever seen, in fact, he probably was responsible for as many disallowed goals as goals he scored. He's always been one of the more physical players on the team but this hit is just stupid. Let guys like Marchand do crap like that, it's way below the standard in Montreal. Give him the suspension and get on with it….and if he keeps doing stupid stuff, it might be time to think about a buy out.

  11. …this isn't really Gallaghers type of play…a pest in front of the net, plays on the edge sure…but that's hockey…and because this isn't BG's thing you almost have to wonder if something prompted BG to this (this isn't an excuse, but if you poke a bear enough it bites…but I didn't see the game so I'm just speculating) …

…those crying for a huge suspension, get over it…this shit happens more frequently than you would think…and that hit wouldn't have hurt all that much anyway….I've been/have hit harder and with less gear when I played (I find today's players emulate too much of those pussies who play soccer so…..)…he didn't quite stiff arm him like Stevens used to do, his arm collapses and the other guy then rolls off his shoulder…

…at any rate, it's a suspension worthy play…I was thinking four yesterday…but I think he got 5…that's fine, however what the hell is that guys still playing with a history of all those concussions? Once a player had two, he was forced to find something else to do back when I played in the '90s…

  12. Just like the Islanders, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. It's not even an anomaly, this has happened maybe half a dozen times where they've allowed the winning goal in the waning minutes of regulation. Not to mention the almost dozen overtime losses. This team is absolutely horrific in the clutch and it will most likely cost them a trip to the playoffs this season. Props to Montreal for playing the entire 60 minutes.

  13. This goes on all the time nothing new about this look back at other game and the players only got two minutes stop being a babies if you can take it go play in the lower devision not the NHL.

  14. Very poor decision by the league to suspend Gallagher. We've all seen Gallagher play this season – he has been slow, has a team worst -21, the game is a tad too fast for him. Don't punish him for finally showing some speed, even if he caught the defenceman admiring his pass. This might be it, I can't watch this goofball league anymore.

  15. No matter how good Roy is, how good he was in net, how much good he's done as a coach… there's always going to be that one trou de cul that remembers his last game in Montreal.

  16. Gallagher should be gone for the season. If the NHL can ban players for 1/2 the season over sports betting, then this head-hunting should send players off the ice for just as long.

  17. Only 5 games for that… Basically shows how NHL gives no shit about player safety. You could basically take playoff rivals star player in the last rounds of regular season and still play in the playoffs like nothing happened after joke of a suspension like that. While the other team is probably without its star for the rest of the season.

  18. I'm for suspension for the remainder of the season. It won't affect the Habs chances of a playoff berth. Time to send a message. NO TRUE HOCKEY FAN wants this kind of crap in our game.
