Would be amazing if we could. Get a less impactful goalie in the trade back and make Wolf the starter. Go with a 3 goalie tandem, like the Habs are doing.

Edit : Mock Trade. To Nj for Vanecek, Holtz and a pick. Then we go with Wolf, Vladar, Vanacek. If Marky waives his nms.

I mean the ball is in marky’s court.
His tenure in Calgary has been a fail. He signed here with the idea that this team can compete and he’s only made the playoffs once
He’s turning 34 too. And lots of teams are in need of stabilizing their situation in net.

No, keep Marky to mentor Wolf.

What do people realistically think we are getting for a 34 year old goalie with a NMC and 2 years @ 6 million left on his contract? lol
The market for a Markstrom trade is not good right now. Best case scenario for a trade might be we retain 3 million a year and we pick up a middle six RFA that won’t re-sign with their current team. Maybe we get a late first or second round pick in there.

When Friedman said it’d take a « massive » offer for the Flames to even approach Markstrom about waiving, it did seem a bit like the organization was negotiating through the media. « Massive » is obviously relative but it was a signal to the league to either stop wasting Conroy’s time and to only approach if they were actually serious about making a deal.

Totally agree. He is our single biggest asset. He is an elite goalie when he has confidence in the team in front of him. Showed it in Vancouver and proved it in Calgary before ‘the dark days’. It will be to a top team, lacking that piece. Best fit? My guess is NJ.

Worthless hypothetical data for stat nerds.

I’m a Devils fan, what do you think it would take for the Devs to aquire Marky and Tanev?

New Jersey needs a goalie

GMs don’t pay for goalies at the deadline, definitely not a 6m goalie with term. Even if Marky waives his NMC, I am certain that the return will be very disappointing. IMO it’s better to keep him so he can mentor Wolf.

It’s not the teams decision
His value will never be higher than it is now
who does he waive his nmc for?
