  1. The craziest part is I think the Oilers can hit another level offensively. It’s been fun being an Oilers fan lately!

  2. What a team Edmonton has. It's amazing how fast the coach has got them all buying in. They are playing great defense. Top 3 power rank is all Canadian again? I would love for one of them to win the cup minus the leafs.

  3. I think I read all the comments that were posted on the two all time power ranking videos that were up, and I don't remember seeing any negative comments. Just a few mouth-breathers misunderstanding the title, but nothing negative about the concept or videos themselves.

    Anyway, play La Bamba baby.

  4. Long post follows with base game statistics including some for the Nashville Predators. Read, don't read, up to you. These are BASE stats not detailed ones. My comments and observations at the end.

So we have an afternoon matinee game in Edmonton and SIXTEEN STRAIGHT WINS. Leon got his 800th point in the NHL. Oilers PP was ON. Oilers PK was REALLY ON. Oilers got the first goal (Nuge on the PP, Leon primary assist, McDavid secondary assist), the second goal (Leon from his office on the PP in the 2nd, McDavid primary assist, Nuge secondary assist) and McDavid in the 3rd period (he bounced it in off of the goalie because McDavid, Ekholm primary assist, Bouchard secondary assist). Nuge lost a 50/50 puck battle and Ekholm broke a stick and an odd bouncer went in to beat Skinner (basically a lucky goal wrecked the shutout). Hyman got an empty netter (assisted by Leon and Connor). So this game Leon 3 points, Connor 4, Nuge 2. This game was odd. The stats say Nashville should have won. Just more proof numbers lie. Nashville had 30 shots to 21 for the Oilers. Nashville won 30 faceoffs vs 22 for the Oilers. Oilers had double the giveaways of Nashville. Oilers had more takeaways (13 vs 9) and 5 more blocks. Rollin' Rollin' Rollin, keep those wins Rollin. Play La Bamba Baby!

  5. As much as Skinner saved the oilers in the beginning of this game the difference in this game was special teams. Oilers can score on the power play, Nashville couldn’t. The oilers penalty kill is on fire, that’s also worth mentioning.

  6. So what exactly do Oilers need to do to go up in your power rankings? Is it about how many goals they win by not win-loss?

  7. Out of the 16 games the oilers have won, 3, maybe 4 of those teams are serious playoff contenders. They've had one of the easiest schedules in the leauge. This is also shown in the fact that they have played 4 less games than most teams in the league. Sick and tired of hearing about them, and I literally cannot wait for Feb 6th for Vegas to end this shit.

  9. Shame on the people calling out both your integrity doing this massive power ranking video ahead of your vacation to not only keep us hungry hockey nerds satiated but to also feed the algorithm so it doesn't demote you in any shape of form. You're both the best and thank you for your dedicated content <3.

  10. I'm kind of a stats guy, and… I'm kind of tempted to look at the ranks of each team relative to the rest of the league for every year and do an all-time power ranking out of that.

  11. Thanks so much for the content and the greatness of your custom all time power ranking. You are amazing!

  12. Oilers are #1 on the power rankings. Especially with the canucks and jets having off weeks.

  13. Hyman's goal was also his 30th of the season. It's crazy how he improves every season. Just over half way through the season, and he already has 30.

  14. Edmonton going from sometimes really awful "what are you guys doing" defense to actually pretty solid defense has completed the team. The final infinity stone has been collected, and now the league is just boned.

  15. I am slightly disappointed Shannon avoided the obvious “No-fin wrong with that” pun after the Finn vs. Finn goalie duel as the Sharks unveil their new Fin jersey set up, so expertly crafted.

    I guess I’m done.
