Hard to believe PD followed Korpi for years and tried to trade for him multiple times. Yet so many people think PD is a great evaluator of talent.

Man ive tried to defend Korpi since he came in. I said it was the defensive collapses that caused his poor numbers. But i dunno man, its getting harder and harder to find excuses for him. Might be time to consider undo'ing Dorions mistake and shipping him out for a bag of pucks.

The Korp signing perfectly illustrates how Dorion was incapable of learning from his past mistakes. We were left with a desperate man making risky, big splash moves on the stock market in his last couple years to save his job under new ownership, completely handcuffing Staois.
Up against the cap with that goalie contract and that team performance… I could not fear a worse situation than that as a new GM.

Korpi is the worst goalie in the NHL. The momentum we had building up the last few games and he goes and throws it all away in this game. This loss was the last straw I don't want Korpi in net anymore I say play Sogaard next few games and when Forsberg comes back switch between him and Mads and bench Korpi. Maybe if Korpi actually starts playing like he's a goalie in the NHL he can come back for now though no chance he can stay out for awhile. Sick of him lol
I think the only time you buyout a player is if and only if you need the cap space. If Ottawa needs 3M+ for a player or something for this upcoming year, buy him out. If they can absorb his contract (save 1.15M in cap space if he is buried in Belleville), no need to buy him out and screw the team over in years 5-8 with the unnecessary cap hits. It was the same as Bobby Ryan, MDZ buyouts. The team did not need to buy them out at the time or need the cap space, which is why the buyouts made 0 sense to me.

Korpi had a bad game, he has been great the last six games. You can’t start Sogaard he is ten times worst. Forsburg is worst than Korpi, he can’t stay healthy, gets hurt at nothing like this last injury, no one touched him and he got injured just turning around. Go ahead and play Sogaard but be prepared for awful goaltending. Keep Kopi you have no other choice right now.

This is all on Dorion. You had Dorion on your show, backing him up, never criticizing him, he was part of the buddy team right? Now live with it. Many of us wanted Dorion and Smith gone 2 years ago but the bought out media were all afraid to say it except Ian Mandes. Now live with the consequences.
Korpi has obviously not been playing good at all, hung out to dry at times for sure but needs to be better. The way I see it is that playoff hopes are gone already, let him play it out and give him the chance to turn things around, we’ve all got to realize a bit that the rest of this season is already just prep for next year. If his play continues to be awful by the end of the year, changes need to be made. He also needs to work on his body language after goals, it low key brings the whole team down

Buying him out this off-season would be premature. I would wait until the next off-season to do so even if he doesn't figure things out and ends up being a $4 million backup for next season.

We love Dorion!! We lost a 7th OA pick for 1 season of Debrincat, our last 1st round pick was Boucher and to top it off he signed a dogsht goalie for 5 years before getting canned. The guy should be in jail for the crime he did to this team.
I agree, Korpisalo has been absolute dog shit. But something’s gotta be in the pudding.. every goalie who comes here is ass! I don’t think we gotta cut ties now, I think he’s back next year as 1B/backup. But Forsberg has also been terrible. We have what 3 bottom 10 goalies? Sogaard been lit up too
Korpi is especially bad at picking up puck from range. He doesn't seem to be aware of where the net is when he goes out to challenge a shooter so frequently he just isn't out enough to challenge. He's also leaving too large a gap between himself and the net-front player so that tips get by him instead of hitting him by accident. Shots from 35-60 feet beat him WAY too often, both unscreened and screened.
