That’s 2 more than I’ve scored in the NHL in my entire life.

  2. theonewhoknocks515

He is washed. Even if he beats the record he will always be a poop stain

  3. Calgarychokes

    Maybe it’s a Putin in ovechkin’s clothing!

  4. BallsMahogany_redux

And 11 points in the past 11 games…

  5. Naando_boi

He is 38 yrs old, nhl hockey is a teeny bit hard on the body maybe hes starting to feel it

  6. New_Highlight1881

He’s wanted to break Brent Gretzkys record first, then back to Wayne’s.

  7. luckytaurus

There was a time when I kinda wanted him to break the record but him being a putin lover has squashed that

  8. Capguy71

I’m not Putin my money on him to break the record this year …

  9. January is not even over. Ovie is playing more mature selfless hockey, if he hits the Gretzky record* with this style of play, he’s just gonna be looking even cooler.

Look at the stats of everyone on the team. It’s not just him, it’s his entire team is unable to score this season. Look at his abnormally low shooting %. He did not just forget how to score. I guarantee next season he pots 30 goals. He will still play until he breaks the record

Poor little Putin Cuck is having a tough year! Waaaan. Go home to Russia Putin Lover! Maybe your good friend who runs the Russian army can send you to Ukraine for employment! Send Loyalist Putin Russian players home to their master!

People are shitting on the guy, but he’s got 63 more to go. Considering there’s been people who put up 25+ at age 39, 40, and 41 (Jagr did 27 at 43!) and he did 50 and 40 at age 36 and 37….I wouldn’t count him out yet.

  13. Lightz29

Don’t worry he’s ovi, he’ll figure it out eventually

894 is a lot. You need to average 40.63 per 22 seasons. 18-40 assuming no lockouts or injuries. All right, 894 is a awful lot.

  15. I hope he doesn’t take any of that Russian juice to kick start his engine. The last thing we need is his heart exploding as he chases Gretzky’s record.

No shame in behind #2 behind Wayne, that still basically makes you #1 since no reasonable person should compare mortals to a God.

It’s not him that’s running cold. It’s his team. The Caps are solid but they don’t have the playmaking depth to feed Ovi goals anymore. He has become the top playmaker on the team. He needs to either get some help or move to a different team. Coming from an Isles fan, I really want to see Ovi reach this milestone.

As a capitals fan it hurts me to say that he needs to retire, his best years are no doubt behind him

  18. Ever since his dad passed, I think he’s slowly losing the drive to push for the record. Pretty sure all he wanted was for his dad to witness it, and now that he’s gone he just lost that fire to keep grinding for it.

  19. peanutbutter_insides

Karma for being a Putin lover.

  20. Beaversail

Hasn’t been Putin the pick in the net so much

  21. sBucks24

Good. I always wanted him to break the record, and had many a drunken university debate on if he could do it 5+ years ago.

But now, fuck that homophobic, Putin-dick-sucking, Russian propagandist. Hope he never breaks a 15 goals again.

  22. GrandBill

Happy to be the 200th upvote for this good-news story!

  23. Samulai-B

Such a coincidence that his performance has dipped now that Putin’s friends can’t bring him their special medicine. Such.

  24. NickyShore

I cant wait to see how horrible the current goal scorers in the league are at the age of 38, if they even make it that far in their careers

  25. Incredible hockey player, but a terrible human being!
