  1. Could Utah be an option should a struggling franchise need to relocate? Maybe their owner sells and the Utah group has already put all its ducks in a row. Kind of similar, Steve Balmer who now owns the Clippers was vetted prior to his purchase and when the Donald Sterling incident occurred, the league was able to make a quick sale to transition past the controversy. Just a thought!

  2. Funny enough, relating to the Malkin own goal, I was at my hometown echl team (Maine Mariners) game this past weekend, we drew a penalty while attacking on offense, pulled our goalie to get an extra skater, and we made a bad pass the bounced off our boards in to our own empty net, the full 200ft of ice… we lost the game 5-1. Lol

  3. I know the preds be irrelevant but please talk about them I got no clue what you talk about them but please do it thanks

  4. So here's the way I feel about expansion. The NHL was fine at 30 teams, but the Knights and Kraken have been good for hockey. This year's Winter Classic I think proved that putting two more teams in the league has not hurt the sport. Likewise, the makeup of both of these teams suggests to me that the on ice product has not been diluted, because both the Knights and Kraken have been successful in turning other teams' guys from expendable depth pieces into key contributors of very competitive teams. There is most certainly enough talent out there that another team rostering 30ish guys in the fray isn't gonna hurt much of anything.

My issue ultimately comes down to there being a Phoenix sized black eye on the league that just won't go away. It's not that the team has been bad, because they're better than plenty of teams this year. It's not that their attendance is low, it may suck given the venue but there are other teams running under 70% attendance that I wouldn't call a problem. It's that this is a dumping ground of a team. They're where teams dump salaries to not have to live with their own mistakes. They're the team the NHL doesn't want you to see, evident by them continually getting the fewest amount of nationally televised games. The NHL "doesn't want to give up hockey in the desert", but they have a better run and more thriving team in another desert. Im not against expansion but I think the NHL needs to either shlt already or get off the pot with that team first.

  5. Thanks for including the bit on the PWHL!!! It's been interesting to see it continue to develop!
I can't believe those elbow hits man…. terrible!

  6. If you can't be an excited sports journalist this year (especially NHL), better find another vocation.
One of the strangest years I've seen in a long time, easily eclipsing the other major 3 sports .

  7. That Crosby pass was my favourite play of the week and I'm not a Pens fan. I love that he can still tear it up.

  8. I would like to congratulate the Penguins for producing the hockey equivalent of that OG Christoph Kramer scored against Dortmund that time 👏👏👏

  9. I think 32 is the perfect number of teams for the league to have. Having 33 teams is awkward, 34 would be slightly better, but 32 just… feels right.
Well, 30 also felt right, but 32 means that half the teams make the playoffs, and each division and conference has the same amount of teams. We'd need 36 to get that balance again.

  10. Nathan Mckinnon takes breakaways and scores/gets points. Kuch is a amazing playmaker who can see and create goals and points

  11. If the Oilers win it all this year, it might honestly get more attention than Taylor Swift watching a football game

  12. On expanding the league, I think we can go up to 40 teams in a two tier league. The top 24 teams stay in what is the current NHL level tier. The lower 16 teams have their own “beer league” tier. Teams only play others within their tier.

At the end of every season, the top and bottom 8 teams from each tier switch, regardless of divisional arrangements. New division boundaries are drawn up every year based on which teams are in which tier.

The cap limits would remain the same between both tiers, and the draft lottery is contested as it is now between all 40 teams. So, you need to be a stinker in the Beer Tier to get the best odds at the number 1 draft pick.

Obviously, revenue for Beer Tier games will be significantly lower than the Pro tier. This will encourage owners and management to not keep their team in the dog house for too long, especially if they are near or at their cap limits.

    Thoughts?

  13. As others have pointed out, I think this season goes to show that the modern “goon” is a tough power forward who is capable of scoring and standing up for teammates, “the code” is very much so alive and well and you can see that instead of a specific goon being the one to stand in, the players as a unit enforce the game, which I believe is a perfect middle ground of goonery and managing physicality

  14. The fact that the Oilers have to wait to 2/6 to see if they tie the win streak record against a tough Vegas team is just brutal.

  15. Really appreciate your videos! Huge wings fan and don’t really care to watch other games… great way to stay in touch

  16. The league can only benefit by having another franchise in Canada. Scrap the Coyotes and bring back the Nordiques.

  17. Trying to win a cup during this expansion team era is a joke.

A team can develop key depth pieces and lose them for nothing. And the 2 expansion teams skip right to playoff contender

  18. I definitely think there shouldn’t be more teams, on top of that, I think there should be less games so that they are higher stakes.

  19. Your commitment to the sharks is everything. So stoked to see the Sharks parade tracker happen on this channel 🙂

  20. Man PLD has never earned his paycheck. Dude was barely ever a 2mil player, idk how he keeps on tricking his way into a job
