  1. Oilers are in playoff mode in January and the refs have helped that by "letting them play".

Its been strong 5v5 play and strong defensive effort by the team. The offense shows up when they need that crucial goal, fine by me. I'm not sure when it ends but its been incredible to see.

    LETS GO OILERS!

  2. Bruins only 5th? They are First overall. So many people hung up on Bergeron and Krejci not being there.

  3. A little rough to judge Roy and the Islanders' 1-2-1 when they played both teams in last year's final and should have gone to OT vs Montreal. This team looks better than it did with Lane Lambert and will take some time to get used to the new system. I'm optimistic.

  4. As a red wing fan that lives in edmonton I would LOVE a red wings oilers final more than anything on this planet

  5. As a Minnesota fan, I have no idea how to fix them as well. There seems to be a mental block that prevents the players from having that killer instinct, in terms of getting shots on shots on net and keeping up the pressure when they have a lead.

  6. yeah it was a tough week for my jets. i do think tho the break will be good for us to get healthy and get back to normal but that pp needs to improve right away or else the collapse is inevitable

  7. People that talk about easy schedules really diminish the competitiveness of the NHL. This isn't like the NBA. There is no sure thing in the NHL. The Oilers v Blue Jackets we got outplayed and peppered in the first 2 periods. The game was on a knife edge up until the third which is a bit of a reoccurring trend for the Oilers lately they've been securing wins in the 3rd. I bet the most common win streak in the NHL is 3 games. Because eventually a team comes along and gets some lucky bounces and you lose. 16 is crazy but the media is exhausting like every question is "streak, streak, streak"

  8. Edm, remarkable. Awesome stuff. "Philly is exhausted". That was DET in December, coupled with injuries we nearly f'ed the season. If we won just two more games in Dec Wed be guranteed 2nd or 3rd in Atlantic.

  9. 13:00 As a fan of a west coast team I don't want to hear that some east coast team is tired. F**k that. There is VERY little travel involved the the schedules of east coast teams. Saying they are a tired team is a complete cop out. The Flyers are not as good a team as they appeared a month ago. The real Flyers team is showing. 9 of their 14 games in January were at home. It's got nothing to do with being tired. Save that garbage excuse. Because that's all it is, garbage.

  10. I come back every once in a while to check your power rankings and I see they are as bad as ever. The logic is not logical.

  11. Edmonton is smoke and mirrors. They weren't as bad to start the season as their record would suggest, and they sure a/f aren't as good as their record would suggest recently. They only had 11 games in January. Nicely spaced. San Jose, Anaheim, Ottawa, Chicago twice. The 2 best teams they have beat on that run are Toronto and Los Angeles. 12 of their 16 wins have been against non playoff teams, meaning they have 4 wins against playoff teams on that run. Edmonton fans had better dampen expectations.

  12. You have it right Mr Hockey. As a Kings fan, the second half will bring a comeback for us but the competition in the Pacific will be tough this year.

  13. Hockey guy your coverage is so good i was able to cancel my sirius account because your show is ten times better than Sirius hockey talk. 🙏🏼

  14. No team can go on a 16 game win streak relying on only 2 players. the whole team needs to be firing on all cylinders. also there is no "EASY" teams in the NHL these are all professional teams. top of their skill. its the weaker teams that always kill streaks most times because the other team comes in thinking it will be easy and its the hardest game they had to play. what the Oilers are doing is crazy. and I cant wait to see how far they go.

  15. What does it take for you to put Boston #1? Lol. 5 is too low. 1 loss does that? Top of the league ALL year unlike most if not all of the other teams that have been there. Just strange. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  16. So ridiculous that all the haters say that the oil have played easy teams in this run. Rangers, Kings, flyers, devils, red wings, leafs, Kraken, flames and Predators all had winning records during this run. So that's an easy schedule? Give me a break. The most impressive thing to me in this run is that the last 14 games, they've allowed 2 goals or less including two shut outs. Not a lot of teams can say they've done that.

  17. Some crazy stats: the Hurricanes are tied with the Senators for the WORST TEAM SV% IN THE LEAGUE at .887 SV% (since January 1st it's something like .920 SV%, though) and the Canes' shots against per game is a staggering 25 SA/GP, by far the lowest in the NHL (next lowest is Florida with 27.3). Any other team would be way out of the playoffs with the goaltending we had in the first half of this season. They also have 28% PP (2nd in the league) and an 84.4% PK (3rd in the league) for a net 112.4%, the highest in the league.

For those keeping track, that means that the Canes have the best team defense AND the best overall special teams in the NHL.

If our goaltending is even average, we'll be really tough to beat. If Kochetkov has the same .925 SV% in the playoffs as he had in the month of January (pre-concussion) we'll be a force of nature. And hopefully Andersen comes back here soon as well, and Raanta continues his excellent play as of late.

It's still unbelievable to me that we can have the literal worst goaltending in the league this year and still be so dominant.

  18. I check these from time to time and wow, I love to see my wings finally in the top row…even if it doesn't last long lol it feels great and this video helps a bit after my Detroit Lions lost last night…😁

  19. Still in my impression is that drilling platform blowing up thumbnail. We should thank Edmonton providing both drama and skills to begin with.

  20. Thank you for pointing out that if it was just an easy schedule why doesn't any other team do it. 16 in a row in nhl is remarkable. Go oil
