“Respect his privacy”. He should’ve respected E.M. bodily autonomy.

So he’s charged, can we drop him and get that cap space now? How does it work?

Obviously a terrible situation, but let’s hold off on the witch hunt until there is a conviction. We have a judicial system for a reason. Nobody knows what happened that night, and nobody knows the extent of what happened.

Virtue signaling isn’t going to do anything for anybody, because at the end of the day we are all a bunch of bozos on the internet. Downvote me all you want, but all of you know that I’m right.

Ill be downvoted into oblivion once again, but if there is zero new evidence beyond what was originally leaked to the public last year (and originally deemed as not strong enough to charge in 2019) then it is going to be insanely difficult to convict these men.

Remember the Duke lacrosse kids getting crucified only to find out in court she made it up? Im not saying this is the case here, just saying I recommend waiting until you know.

Okay…so he was involved. Hope he enjoys prison and the KHL. Now release these bums

  7. Wow, lotta comments here taking a very different tone than I would have expected. Not surprised by the “let’s wait and see what happens in court” ones, but the “she probably changed her mind afterward and is just after money” ones are the kind of thing I wish fewer people felt comfortable saying out loud.

the court of law and the court of public opinion don’t have the same onus of proof. if there’s enough to bring a SA charge against McLeod, you don’t have to “HURR DURR WAIT FOR DE FACTS TO COME OUT” to form your opinion.

  9. Mr7three2

They’ve been charged. Doesn’t make them guilty. Let’s see what happens

Ironically, the term “witch hunt” stems from the Salem trials, where women’s reputations were stained. But by all means go on suggesting without evidence that the accuser is just trying to get money.

Just putting it out there for the people who think no new evidence has been brought to light and there’s nothing new to charge them with.

In this time, many investigations have happened by media outlets. And one of those facts that came from that was Hockey Canada has covered up 19 cases of SA and paid over 10m in hush money payments to victims over the last 25 years.

It’s not just these guys, it’s the Canadian hockey world being set straight and made an example of that this will not continue.

Regardless of the actual outcome of the case, this marks the end of these guys NHL careers.

If not cause of what they did, definitely cause of the organization they represented.

One way or the other, they’re done.

At best these guys exhibited extremely poor judgement and character. At worst they’re monsters who should be in prison. I really can’t believe there are still people out there wanting to wait and see. At this point I don’t really care about the outcome of the trial, sexual assault has got to be the charge that gets convicted of the least due to its nature. This woman believes she was assaulted, a lengthy investigation also believes that. That’s enough for me to cut bait with these players. A consensual encounter then involved a bunch of guys and became non consensual. Even if someone that joined later was completely ignorant to the fact that it’s a fucked up situation to be in, they have such poor judgement I wouldn’t want them on the team anyway.

There isn’t a wait and see for me, although I hope the trial ends with closure for both sides. McLeod was a 3C and guilty or not Fitz should be planning a future without him. Not worth the headache

  14. LionHeart_1990

Lots of people don’t understand the severity of these charges and the overwhelming evidence that shows an absolutely disgusting and vile incident taking place.

To the uninformed and the ignorant, watch the fifth estate report on hockey canada and wake up.

Wait to judge until after the trial, due process is important. Remember the Duke lacrosse scandal, its important that we all not jump to conclusions.

  16. SnowyPuzzle

Shocking to see the overzealousness here. It is innocent until proven guilty, not guilty until proven innocent. We must wait until the judge and jury deliberate the case while weighing in all the necessary evidence. If they are guilty, lock them up and throw away the key, but we have to wait until the final verdict.

  17. SnowyPuzzle

Wait until a conviction before crucifying them. The Sixth Amendment and global Common law is based on the presumption of innocence, being an international human right as stated by the UN.
