  1. Our main priority is of course a 2C so Mittelstadt would obviously be the best choice, relatively young center and a lot of upside along with being an RFA so not just a rental. Now I don't think it's likely that BUF trades him but yeah he would be perfect. Lindholm would also be great but he will walk after this season, we simply can't afford to resign him along with others who need resigning unless we find a way to rid ourselves of some other contracts (Schmidt etc)

  2. I think Mittelstadt is the player to go after. You'd be getting a long term guy,
that's the right age that would fit in perfectly with Ehlers and Perfetti. I'd rather
not get a pure rental, and the guy is gone in 6 months, and you've wasted
away future picks, and prospects. Make the deal count.

  3. No question Tanev is the best fit.

If the buzz about the asking price for Lindholm is correct, I would say not worth it. I understand that everyone wants to go for it, and there are good reasons for that. I don't see a scenario where the Jets have such a stud backup goaltender next year. LB will get a raise and slot in as a legit #1 somewhere else. But I just think, if they don't win, a Lindholm trade could make for some lean years. I would rather trade current assets over future ones, simply because the core is so set that guys like Chisholm can't crack the lineup except to fill in for injuries.

I also find it odd that insiders are saying Ottawa wants in on Tanev. They seem like they view themselves as buyers. Yes, they have been playing better since Martin took over, but they might hang on to Chychrun if they think they can get more for him in July. Contenders will pay steep prices now, but I think potential suiters expand in the summer and they might have some players they want to target that won't be available until then. I do think they will move Tarasenko though. He is a pure rental for them at this point and they probably want him off their books. I don't see him re-signing there. When I checked last week, he was 57% on faceoffs this year, which we desperately need. My only hesitation there is cap space and other deadline priorities.

  4. Chychrun would be a huge upgrade on Pionk. Question is do the jets still see Pionk as their 2nd best dman (which he’s not).
