Still waiting for Sid to pass that baton to G
Rage bait has been a thing for a while even if it wasn’t known by that name.
Good on him for 1000 points and that he seems to be having a really good season at this age.
It’s no shade at Giroux who is an excellent player, but nobody actually believed Giroux who is not even a point a game player is better than THE Sidney Crosby.
Sid would have been on 1500gp / 2000p if it wasn’t for all those injuries. Injuries are shit
I’ve actually always liked Giroux… admittedly more so once he left Philly. I know it’s fun to do, but I never held it against him that some Philly media guy put him on a pedestal after a playoff series.
The NBC announcers really tried to stir the pot!
I can still hear the impassioned GIROUX! calls every time he was within 10 feet of the puck when Philly played the pens.

If anything I’d blame Laviolette for putting unfair pressure on him.
Calling him the « Greatest player in the world » was kinda inadvertently setting Giroux up for failure in hindsight (compared to Crosby who was used to that level of attention and pressure already).
I also recall NBC stating that Crosby’s work ethic is not as good as Jonathan Drouin’s.
Good for G, and for one magical season, he was the best player in the league and beat the Pens in the playoffs. At that time, G was a fucking force. This is coming from a Pens fan – that hated how bullied we got in that series. Mentally dominated
Anyone who seriously entertained this idea were delusional. Respect to Giroux though, he is a solid player and seems to be a hard worker.
Not even close
Pretty remarkable career Giroux had.
Very solid carrier btw
You didn’t have to flash Crosby’s stats dude lmao
Somewhere out there is a cop who needs a good grab on his ass….and Giroux is the one to give it to him.
He already did that? Oh…
The Giroux > Crosby debate was one of the strangest I’ve ever seen. It seemed ludicrous at the time, comical in retrospect.
Giroux had a good playoff series and everyone in Philadelphia immediately got lost in the sauce.
