  1. I thought the Flames fleeced the Canucks but looking at it: Kuzmenko’s never going to work in Vancouver, Hunter’s a 3rd rounder outperforming all expectations—selling high on a boom or bust prospect. This is the lowest 1st round pick the Canucks have had in over a decade.

High quantity but the quality of the assets? Canucks paid a very good price for Lindholm, exactly what the Canucks need.

  2. 5.5mil saved for next year and a 2C rental who fits in a Toch system for Hunter B, a late 1st and a 3rd/4th conditional.
I think this is closer to a win-win than a fleecing, Kuz and Hunter B arn't going to help the canucks when they need it..which is now
DADDY TANEV WE HAD MILK ALL ALONG!! T_T

  3. So instead doing Horvat, Miller, Pettersson, its Lindholm, Miller, Petterssom

  4. Good luck to them. Canucks might be the closest of the Canadian teams to a deep Stanley run until the amateur and biased NHL Refs have a say that is.

  5. Very risky move from Canucks imo. Lindholm needs to play way better than he has so far this season to make this worth it. If they get an extension it could be more fair. Very early to give up on Kuzmenko, prospects they gave have good potential and 1st round pick? Flames win at this point.

  6. dont understand why Lindholm was chosen for all star weekend Weeger, Sharongovich, and kadri any one of those was the better choice than Lindholm he was floating through this year good job NHL.

  7. To be fair, Canucks are not even close to being all in with this trade…. They traded like what, their 4th or 5th best prospect and the 27th overall pick assuming they don't go all the way.

  8. Jurmo isn’t anything. The first is late in a shallow draft. The 4th is whatever.

Kuzy is a fun player who can score goals and make some dynamic plays in the ozone, but doesn’t drive a line and is a defensive liability

Hunter is the intriguing piece but there’s a reason he fell to round 3. Canucks did sell high on him. Overall Vancouver didn’t lose any major piece

  9. bullsh*t Lindholm hasn't been good for 3 years.Kuzy is having a bad sophmore year.

  10. It's funny that a 40 goal score signs in Van for 5.5M. In leaf land a guy who had around 12 more points less season is worth 11.5M. Sounds like the leafs have the wrong GM.

  11. Elias Lindholm (29)

    2021-22 Games: 82 Goals: 42 Assists: 40 Points: 82

    2022-23 Games: 80 Goals: 22 Assists: 42 Points: 64

    2023-24 Games: 49 Goals: 9 Assists: 23 Points: 32

  12. As a Canucks fan, after the past decade, I don't even care if it works. It's exciting, it's bold, it gives us the feeling of a pulse again. And it's been a long time since we felt that.

  13. One critique, saying those prospects have "high upside" is quite hyperbolic. Both prospects are third round picks one in the OHL and one in Liga and unless you've been following them closely (I don't think anyone has) so saying there anything more than prospects seems disingenuous.

  14. I don't know much about Lindholm as a player but I am in general very happy that the Canucks are getting business done early at various points and not setting themselves up to lose out at the deadline.

  15. Its good value for both teams. Canucks address a need and dump cap in the process, While Flames grab a decent prospect and a first. Jurmo and the 4th aren't much to run home screaming in excitement about but its something. It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few months.

  16. odd thing is, the young players who could be on the roster next year and the majority of their prospect pool ( including the high end ones ) are intact. I think this may turn out to be some more masterful Allvin surgery . Nucks management has probably been scouting this for months .

  17. As a flames fan I gotta say I think conroy absolutely fleeced the Canucks. It's about time something positive happened in flames land. Wooooooo

  18. canucks just gave up a big prospect, kuzmenko and a 1st for a guy on pace for 15 goals lol 😂

  19. joni jurmo is hardly a name worth being excited about. he's a 21 year old in liiga with little to no expectation of even signing an ELC

  20. The Dougie Hamilton trade tree will be Yggdrasil eventually. Those assets will be kicking around in the league for like 40 years

  21. Literally a steal. Canucks didn’t give up anyone who will ever play an impact role in the NHL. Allvin is a magician.

  22. If the Canucks trade for Tanev, what do they have to give up? Can they pay that price without messing with the lineup?

  23. Vanc trying to compete with Playoff Vegas: Eichel, Stephenson, Karlsson. What's EP's re-signing value for next year?

  24. People keep saying van got fleeced lol, they don’t realize Canucks gave up B prospect, C prospect, a late first rounder, a conditional 4th round pick and a Russian player that has been playing so bad that we Canucks fan actually feel bad for the guy.

    Canucks are even better now!

  25. Hunter B. will be very good somewhere down the road and this might be one of those things that comes back to bite the canucks in the butt but thats way down the road

  26. it's official, we are going all in! one more defenseman and the lord stanley is ours!

  27. Canucks have plenty of d-prospects so I don’t think they are sacrificing a lot. It’s a really sold, well thought out trade.

  28. The only think that counts is how well they play in the playoffs. Canucks dive most of the time in the playoffs. They didn't get enough. They are cursed unless they get rid of that dam Orca Bay Dumb Whale from Seattle. Edmonton wipes out Vancouver in round 2 of the playoffs.

  29. Jurmo has no upside, and the "nothing off the roster" comment obviously isn't the case with Kuzy leaving, but I understand the intention of saying it's an upgrade on that position in the roster

  30. Brzustewicz is definitely a better prospect than Jurmo. Brzustewicz is a 19 year old right handed RD with 69 points in 47 games in the OHL, Jurmo is a struggling 21 year old LD doing poorly in Liiga. Brzustewicz though is a really solid prospect to add for the Flames’ future. A core of Zary, Coronado, Pospisil, Brzustewicz, and Wolf could be incredible in 5-6 years. Bodes well for the future in Calgary. I’ve also heard rumours that Tocchet and Kuzmenko very much disliked each other and Tocchet kept him on the 3rd/4th lines out of personal preference/spite. That would account for at least some of the scoring problems he’s had this year.
