Fighting after a clean hit. What a sad state of affairs. Just go rock one of their guys with a clean hit and the “score” is even. Absolutely pathetic to fight after a textbook clean hit
Why does a fight have to occur after a good clean body check? This is not pond hockey where you can’t raise the puck above your ankle. Yes, I understand the concept behind this but don’t agree and think it is ruining our game. I grew up playing semi-pro hockey in the 1970 – 80s. Body checking was an important part of our game. If someone laid out a great check, good on him. He might want to keep his head up because next time he might be the recipient. As great as Wayne Gretzky was, I believe he was the player who ushered in this mentality towards body checking. NHL players were told not to check him because he brought so much revenue into the game. The other deterrent was Semenko who no body ever wanted to tend with. But it opened the doors to the idea that you better leave the best players alone. Now we’ve got this mentality that every time you throw a good hard check there has to be a fight. Ridiculous.

It’s why it’s in hockey. Sure there can be instigators, he didn’t jump the dude, he challenged him. Let the fucking boys play.
