Such a win win trade here… used to hate canucks but now I’m rooting for them, really anyone but Edmonton…. Happy van gets an awesome 2C, Flames got a huge haul, and lindholm gets a chance to play with some real talent and push for a cup
Absolutely gutted losing a guy like kuzy who is loved among the fan base and such a character. It’s been rough watching him this season getting benched and making mistakes. It’ll be better for him to get a new change in scenery in Calgary, happy for him.
Can’t understand how this was the best deal for Lindholm. Really not much for Calgary. A guy who was scratched multiple times, 2 so so prosects, the first will beca late rounder and probably no 4th when Edmonton or VGK keeps VCR out of Western finals against Winnipeg.

Kuzmenko had no choice. He had no future with the Canucks and had been a healthy scratch several times. If he vetoed the trade and stayed, no doubt the healthy scratches would continue and tank his value to any other team in the future. Now he gets a fresh start with a new team.

Lindholm is a 40-goal scorer so I get how you need to pay a stiff price for him… I think what will determine the value of this trade would be how Brzustewicz turns out to be down the road, whether the Canucks would actually get an extended playoff run, and finally, whether Lindholm will re-sign with the team. With the contracts for Petey and Hronek up, and all the other pending UFAs and RFAs, I have a feeling that this may turn out to be just a rental. But if this gamble means the team can get a crack in hoisting Lord Stanley finally, then I am okay with that.

In my eyes that is a small price to pay to improve the team for a shot at the cup this year.
