I wouldn’t say I’m decidedly for firing Keefe, but this is a strong argument for it. Coaches don’t last that long, and Keefe’s by no means at the level of the four above him.

Other than Rod – all the others have won Stanley cups.

Would be funny to compare playoff series wins across these 5.

Doesn’t mean anything until half the salary cap doesn’t go to four forwards.

  4. FogDucker9

I mean he’s so good though, even with constantly putting out the wrong lines we actually won a round…

I just don’t understand why MLSE runs this team completely different compared to other teams. If my coach has 1 series win in his tenure, it’s done. Can’t get this team over the hump. Regular season success doesn’t mean anything in my opinion

Yay. Laughs have such a losing culture we celebrate the small wins. Like Matthews Rocket Richard.

Has this sub ever tried not being negative AF for 5 seconds?

Is this a post for *should* Keefe be fired or *will* Keefe be fired? They are completely different questions.

I want to see Keefe go… Go and coach another team that has well balanced cap and see what he can do.

Should’ve been fired after collapse vs Montreal

All the folks firing Keefe **right now** magically think that by doing so the team will go on a “magical run” like the Blues did when they hired Berube.

It doesn’t work like that normally.

Better to wait until the season finishes and then do a proper measurement of his performance and if necessary find his replacement IMO

If your the GM and your selling the future at the deadline to make a splash in the playoffs, and you don’t win anything…then why keep the coach? I’m just saying, I don’t know how Keefe has been justified over the years to stay. The GM is obviously working with the coach to find the best players, and they are selling the future together to win. If you don’t win…you just say, oh no worries buddy we’ll try again next year? And then the next year, it happens again. And then, the following year, it happens…again?!

4 successful coaches and we got this other pygmy thing over in toronto.

All those other teams have cups this century, time to get the Leafs on that list!

  15. Low-Signal-3900

Only reason Keefe was ever a coach was to act as a puppet for Dubas. Any other coach would have told Dubas to fuck off and stay in his lane.

Until you give Keefe a capable defense, there’s no point in firing. No coach on the planet is going to coach this team to a cup with the defense core along with the overall team defense.

I know this is easier said than done, but what I’d like to see Tre do is acquire guys who can or are immediately willing to extend with the Leafs. So just as an example, if you can get Tanev and Hanafin, and they’re both willing to sign an extension after the deal, go ahead. Send your 1st and Minten or whatever. Basically if there is somebody you feel you’d target in the offseason, go get them now.

I know some people might suggest just wait until the summer, but at the same time, we can’t waste a year of Auston Matthews scoring at a nearly 70G pace.

  17. Vivid_Fun_977

4 of those guys can actually coach. … Fire Keefe, immediately
