The first goal Sid scored coming back is my favorite Crosby goal of all time.
He blew past like 3 Islander defenders on his backhand, absolutely buried it top shelf (classic Sid), and his exuberant exclamation upon doing so (that most replays omit lol).
I lost my mind with joy and relief seeing him score that goal. He was back.

I remember this as one of the first NHL games if not the first for which I woke up at 2 am here in Finland. I remember the old brick tv and how I screamed when Sid scored. Mom wasn’t as happy as I was, haha

I was in grad school at the time, not far from Pittsburgh. My parents were visiting from Nova Scotia (I grew up playing against Crosby) and we had tickets for this game. Total luck of the draw, since we bought tickets weeks in advance. My dad glanced online to see how much we could get for our seats and found similar tickets going for $1,500+/seat. We never consider selling. Not even once.
I still remember how insane the crowd went when he scored off the backhand in the first period.
I still have the « Welcome Back Sid » sign hanging in my office. Great memory.

I was at Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub eating a huge, delicious burger, watching with my brother, my dad, and some of my best friends. Amazing memory!
