Honestly, I didn’t know how to feel. I just want to get off the L train

Sad but understandable. You can’t win 3 games in 27 (or whatever it was) and expect to still have a job in one of the largest sports markets in the US.

well fuck. I know everyone hated the dude but we were humming to start the season out…..too bad someone had to take the fall

See you Todd. I hope this is best for everyone.

I don’t know if this changes anything. I wasn’t on the Fire Todd train, but if he was to get canned, I would feel better about it if we had a replacement already. Having Hiller as an interim doesn’t feel right to me.

Had to happen, at least imo. Blake is clearly feeling some heat at this point

  7. He wasn’t making the right adjustments and was too afraid to shake things up when we needed it.

I think this was also Todd’s weakness as a coach.

Definitely credit him for establishing a good culture and development, but we need someone to take it to the next level.

I knew it. Todd was clearly devastated in his post game conference. I don’t think this helps at all. Especially with just another internal hire. Feel terrible for Todd. He will hopefully get the credit he deserves for what he did with us when time passes. This just feels like another John Stevens waste of a year.

If you had a measly 11 points in one month and a dry spell that lasted for nearly over 2 months, this had to happen eventually

  10. Over/under set at 4 games before this sub starts calling for Jim to be fired.

The right decision. McLellan is Terry Murray 2.0: He can develop players and get a team out of the basement, but he’s not going to get them to the Cup.

That said, I was expecting Blake to at least wait out the season so this is a bit of a surprise.

All the wording puts Hiller as interim until the end of the season, I’m not sure we have a replacement like people keep saying. If we did, they’d be announced now.

  13. Hopefully the players feel like shit for getting Todd fired and start showing up to play

I’m sad but it needed to be done. Hopefully this is the kick in the pants the team needs. Time to put down the Oilers and start a streak of our own

Mixed feelings. A new voice was needed but I felt Todd did face some unfair criticism in his time with us. He took us out of the post sutter mire and made us relevant and modern again.

I feel the skid has more to do with the players lack or urgency more so than Todd but c’est la vie. Hopefully we can crawl out of this

Zero percent surprised. That said I don’t think the blame for this season lays on Todd nearly as much as it lays on the players.

Kings fans next week: “Fire Hiller”

  18. SupremeGCx

So not much will change huh. What is firing Todd for jim gonna do? It’s the same shit.

  19. EinsamWulf

I know this is something a lot of people wanted but I’m not sure I agree with it…I actually think Todd has been a solid coach for our organization and firing him after winning a game feels like a strange move. Maybe this is the right call and it will get a fire lit under the team and back onto a winning stretch these last couple months of the season.

Since we all have two cents …

A key indicator for me is – worst OT and shootout record in league and the same line up/players are sent out. It’s not like Kopi/Kempe/Doughty are bad but to continue to start them and then roll the same combos and continue to not have it work is … insanity (you know the phrase) Ge the Q out there 3 on 3!

Hiller – can be optimistic because of the noticeable difference in structure and adaptability he’s brought to PP/PK.
