Can anyone who watches hockey regularly tell me why the all star game/weekend is so bad? I know in NBA the stars are just divas and can’t be bothered to try in regular season let alone all stars game, they only try in playoffs. What’s the issue for NHL?

They should turn the whole thing into some team events competition. Having a game like this is such a waste when there's other things they could do. For example, having a defenseman gather a loose puck, breakout pass around some obstacle or something, the forward gets it and has to give and go or whatever with another teammate, and then try to score on the opposing goalie. Points for time and goals. There's so much that you could do like that where the team would be involved with each other, and they'd actually try harder than this.

Many people must be very naive in life if they think that people will try their best in such an entertaining format. for them, it's a great way to just relax a little before the regular season. Even people like McKinnon and Hellebuyck realize that it's just a show and they can have a little fun. i like that.

This was so boring, I skipped through the highlights even. Do like baseball, make the all star game determine who gets home ice advantage in the finals. I get it that the players don’t want to get hurt over a throwaway game, and I don’t blame them one bit, but this makes the game fun only for the players and an absolute snooze fest for the fans.
