LOL I dislike that Jets Mgmt pooped the bed when Lindholm went but it’s a late 1st round pick only slightly better than Mtl’s 2nd round which the Jets have. So no big deal. Hope they slot him in 3rd line minutes where he belongs.

Teams that get magic beans back in trades for productive players haven't fleeced anybody. A late 1st who at best might be a contributing member in the nhl in 5 years is not winning a trade. Congrats to Montreal for extending their rebuild past a decade. But, if you are coupling The Calgary Acquisition, then, Yes, it's A Huge Win for Montreal, in that, they got A First Rounder in that deal, but, with all due respect, I think that you have to look at it as 2 Separate Deals. Definitely, it's A Good Move for Montreal, especially if they sign Sean as A Free Agent in The Summer, but, I don't see it as A Fleecing. Maybe you can explain it in a comment to this. Monahan was drafted 6th overall… The pick given is much lower than that. If the jets go to the cup nobody will care what they give to get him.

What a terrible take on this trade.
You obviously do not understand the difference between what a team needs and what they were willing to pay for it. The Jets needed a 2nd line C because they are going for the cup. Montreal is tanking for a better draft position. Montreal gets a very low #1 pick in exchange for a good 2nd line C that is currently healthy. Monahan is a proven NHL C while Montreal gets a draft pick that may or may not ever play in the NHL. The Jets got exactly what they needed to win a cup or at lease have a chance to win it while MTL got a question mark that may or may not ever play in the NHL.

It’s so annoying seeing people say fleece or anything of the likes, both teams can win a trade. Monahan is a very solid center that jets desperately need, this gives them very good centre depth and improves playing time of the 2nd line of Peretti-monahan-Ehlers. He has a 55% in the face off where jets are struggling, mostly namestinkov who will be relegated to the 4th line. He thrives on the PP where jets are also lacking and he’ll be on PP1. He adds so much to this deep jets team that alot of others wouldn’t be able check all those boxes. Jets now have Shief,Monahan,Lowry and Namestinkov for the 4 centres which is damn good. Habs also got great value with 2 firsts and some picks. Lets not forget that the jets first is a late pick and probably will not amount to anything too good looking at this draft.
