  1. I like the idea of an All Star "Draft" but what takes away from it, (for me at least) is when players pick team-mates. I'd love to see them go head to head against each other. Leon Vs Connor, Cale Vs Nate

  2. Re All Star Game and "not trying": Players are kinda forced into this sorta thing. Sure, they could pull an Ovechkin and just take a one game suspension, or they can show up and go through the motions. At the end of the day, players simply don't want to take an extended break in the midst of a playoff race. All Star festivities like this should take place after the Cup is awarded. Perhaps this is an unpopular opinion, but still.

Re Expansion: Wings fan first here, but… yeah. I want a team back here in Atlanta. I want to be able to actually attend a Wings game without needing to spend a lot more money than I can justify just to get back to Detroit for a game. There's an interested ownership group who actually owns the land to build a new arena on. Much like Phoenix being too big to not return to, this market is as well. Outside that, I'm not entirely sure how likely Cincy, KC, or Omaha is to actually get a team. It's likely those three are only mentioned to try to spur further interested parties or firm commitments from existing parties to the league while the Coyotes situation finally approaches a resolution. I'm pretty sure the BoG is finally at a point where they're ready to fish or cut bait on them.

  3. 55:43 eventually I think schedules could get figured out with feedback from players. Just look back at the previous FIFA World Cup, it was right in the middle of all euro club soccer seasons and all they did was take an extended break for the tournament

  4. I could care less about the Olympics ZZZZ. It was set up for amateurs, not professionals and additionally, how is even close competitively speaking, to an even playing field to have Slovenia with a population of 2 million people play against the USA with 340 million people? There are dozens of examples like this. ZZZZ The Olympics were set up for nation-states (people from those competing countries) to compete against one another but athletes today can change their nationalities like modern professional free-agents change their teams. Get a new piece of paper and ipso-facto you're now a citizen of a different nation and you can now compete for that new nation in the Olympic games. Then there's the inevitable political boycotts. Honestly now, what were the World Juniors without Russia except a way for the US State Dept to hurt Russia economically? The Olympics are too political (which again, they were not supposed to be while the games were being held) and there's just too much money in it already – endless hype and endless commercials I get that it's good advertising for the NHL but I'm a consumer, I don't make anything from that advertising, TV Network or I'm not a NHL stockholder. I remember way back to the 1968 Olympics. They were much more interesting when it was only amateurs, even though the Soviets and other Eastern block/Communist teams were in reality known professionals. I don't look forward to NHL players in the Olympics. Not at all. I don't want Red Wings players getting hurt in exhibition games. That's the bottom line for me even if I'm in the minority.
