  1. Big deal. The CFL killed its all-star game decades ago, nobody cares. NFL turned theirs into a pickup game. Nobody cares about all-star games except fanboys.

  2. He does not need to 'care' but he could still put effort into it. The All Star Game and Events are for the fans and for NHL marketing. NHL players get paid for not only playing the games but also to be engaged with fans, be an representative of your team and to help marketing. Kucherov is a good player but he is also a classless player. He has always been a classless player.

  3. Kucherov's lack of effort in the skills competition shows a lack of respect, class and contempt for the NHL and fans. If there's no obvious official rule to hold him accountable, then just direct the NHL officials to throw the rulebook at Kucherov, call him for penalty wherever possible (he's dirty player anyways-should be easy), send him a message by giving him like 5 penalties in game, better yet if its an unsportsman like conduct!

  4. I think this was his way of making sure he never has to go again. Do a shitty job and they won't ask ya to do it again.

  5. When he missed the first few passes, why try for the rest? He knew he wasn’t going to get any points.

  6. If league executives are actually unhappy about this, perhaps they should change the way they do things? You know, change the timing of the All Star events to not interrupt a playoff push? I get it, the star players are a major factor for fans to show up, bring their family, and especially for kids to meet their on-ice heroes. But if anyone thinks any of those players truly wanted to be there, they're insane. If I'm doing something — anything — and I'm forced to stop only to attend an event I don't really care about, my enthusiasm and participation level will be utter garbage.

So, the league knows how to fix it. They just don't want to, and they're offended that a player is finally taking more of a stand against them as opposed to just eating an automatic one game suspension.

  7. Not a TB fan at all, funny how the NHL takes this serious how about fixing the real issues NHL like DOPS, obviously the NHL has its priorities wrong

  8. Kucherov accomplished an almost impossible task, he had people paying attention to the utterly trivial NHL all-star thingy.

  9. What would probably make the players and teams really care is instead of that million dollars go to the player, have that million dollars go to the winners team as cap space that can be used for the rest of the season

  10. Deep deep down… I believe it was really a F U to Toronto as a City & organization! Like Scheifle said a while back… there's nothing like beating & trolling the Leafs!

  11. I have news for the nhl execs…..Im not happy with their all star game marketing and other decisions about the all star game

  12. if they are son unhappy about his actions make him pay fine and ban him from future allstar gaames problem solved, just dont let him partake, why can players not have a no all start clause in their if they do not ant to partake

  13. Regardless of whether you like Kucherov. This was clown world stuff. Just take the one game suspension instead of being hungover and unable to participate.

  14. I did not find it funny, it was childish and disrespectful to the fans. If you don't want to participate, just don't go. I have much more respect for Ovechkin, who takes his 1 game suspension for not going, than Kucherov who goes but screws around. I think, rather than giving cash payouts to professional athletes who are already multi-millionaires, make it for charity. Each player announces beforehand which charity they're competing for. Each skill competition has a smaller reward for the winner and a larger one for the overall winner. The NHL donates the money on the player's behalf and even gets a tax write-off. Maybe that would help encourage players to act like grown men rather than sulky teenage divas.

  15. Let's think about what would happen at the MLB All-Star Game or the NBA All-Star Game. They might have a bit of pre-arranged humor yet they wouldn't allow this. But Kucherov is dissing the fans, the participating players, and the league. Unlike MLB and the NBA, the NHL has a lot of key Russian players including Kucherov the top scorer. And there happens to be a war going on that has to be a huge emotional strain on these players, many of whom will have no love for the West now. That has to be what this action by Kucherov is about.

  16. I would say that he was an embarrassment to the show. For the older people commenting they probably just think the NHL All Star weekend is a joke. But really this All Star weekend is to showcase the best of the best in the NHL. You're there to showcase your talent. For ex, Barzel got the call up and he immediately asked to sign up for the speed competition when the other players were too scared to do it. This event it really for the KIDS to enjoy, tons of kids get to witness their idols putting on a show for them. Imagine your idol is Kuch and you seem him not give af. Wouldn't they upset you as a kid? If you were not going to try then just say you don't want to go. There are tons of other players who would love to take your place.

  17. I didn't care and thought it was funny but I can see how some people might be upset. I wonder how that impacts him getting awards and future All Star selections

  18. My 5 buddies and I are big hockey fans and we never watch the All Star game. It is silliness, it's not hockey as we play(ed) it and know it. We happened to watch the skills competition because there was nothing else to play in the background on the TV. Kucherov's effort in the passing drill effectively stated "We are a bunch of clowns entertaining an unsophisticated audience in a lame effort to sell TV advertising". It no longer adds to the game.

  19. What a surprise!! Time for everyone to realize this is simply a cash grab from the NHL fatcats, and as long as the shlepps keep spending their money on this garbage they deserve to see what they get. Good for Kucherov to say F'you, I am not your trained dog, these guys are idolized for playing a simple game that lets face it, at the end of the day will not affect anyones lives in any meaningful way, maybe time to reset your life priorities??

  20. I’m just guessing but earlier that day NHL and Players Association came out and said they are planning on an in league tournament that doesn’t include quite a few countries with his still being banned from that tourney and most likely the Olympics because of their crap country with no chance of international best on best . The players union just agreed to a deal without multiple players being included that they are supposed to represent. Just my take …

  21. Who cares cause in an actual game ypur passing to moving targets, its not even the same, but i was surprised tho , cause i thoight he was gonna be one of the best at everything. Havent watched a lot of lightning jus see him on top of league in scoring all the time

  22. You get one week off between October and April/June, and your employer takes it away because you performed too well. You planed some vacation? You wanted to see your family? Forget that. You're going to freezing cold Toronto to 'enjoy' your time off.

    Dance, monkey, dance!

Don't worry, it's going to be a super interesting event that you've got no chance of winning, because the person who designed the event also happens to be your biggest competitor. Good luck.

    Dance, monkey, dance!

You won't be compensated for going, but you'll be suspended one game for not going, punishing your team, your stats (in a year where you could be #1 points) and 122,000 $ in wages.

    Dance, monkey, dance!
