Jets won't feel they lost value as long as Monahan is able to stay healthy.
The fact that Winnipeg has Montreal’s second round pick in this draft makes it easier to move the first. They’ll still have a pick about 10 spots later, maybe only a few spots. When their window is now and the next few seasons, a late first rounder doesn’t help them other than using it to get an asset.
In paper it seems like a lot to give up but they didn’t have the depth at C and drafting someone who isn’t likely to even be on the roster before Scheifele and Hellebuyck are past their prime doesn’t help them at all. The only question is if they could have used they pick to get a better centre. Market’s pretty slim.
I definitely like LaRocco’s take on the Monahan trade. Money is finally 100% healthy and will be playing with some very offensive players in Wpg vs in Mtl.
The Jets are chasing the conference title so a move had to be made now.
Roslovic played very little C during his time in Wpg. He was a “late 1st rd pick” and was a big disappointment in Wpg.
Centers and Defenseman have this in commun you never have too much ! Habs need centers now but they will fill it with AHL players.
I would be interesting to review the Monahan Trade to Winnipeg in a few month! You will know more if they have over paid or not !
