It's frustrating to say the least!! The last 4 losses they should've bagged a point in every one of those games. Defensive breakdowns o plenty. They may make the playoffs they might not but this defense the way its constructed raises some major concerns. Keep up the good content boys!
Time to bring in a management teammate that’ll put these players in their places, and that means major moves even if only to pivot towards the future rather than trying to be buyers approaching the March trade deadline.
Keefe has been rewarding a complete lack of effort on defense with extra ice time for years. His little hissy fits now that his job is on the line are hardly going to counter that. These plays will happen as long as there is no accountability. Start holding players accountable and this lack of effort will disappear.
Will a new coach "get these guys to buy in???" Last year in Vegas, Cassidy, a new coach, called Eichel into his office and told Eichel his ice time was being cut until his defensive play improved. Eichel sure bought in. That is the kind of coach the Leafs need. One that understands that the long term goal is more important than any one game.
Separate Matthews and Marner. This lasts until Marner starts getting the tough matchups and Matthews is sitting on the bench when the other team's best players are on the ice. IMHO Matthews doesn't like that and it gets changed.
Marchment. Wow, it is too bad that Keefe and Dubas couldn't see the value of a player like that. If only he were smaller, shorter and lighter he might have gotten a real shot.
Matthews chase for 70. I would rather see him dominate in the playoffs. Frankly if he gets 82 in the regular season and looks like a mouse in the playoffs again his year was a failure.
What should the Leafs do at the deadline. Sell and plan for next year. This isn't a Dcore that is playoff ready. The guys who demanded 'put the team on your back' money haven't done that more often than not. Sell and try again with a real defense. An added bonus is it sends the message that they can't mail in the first 50 games and expect to be treated like the 76 Canadiens.
Tanev would have to go straight to Robidas Island as he hasn't been 100% healthy in over 10 years.

This is Why Gilmore brought up the Whole Teams Points and Mathews brings Down all the Team Points. He can't Play Ice Hockey Correctly BUT he is the Managements Favorite Player so Screw the Cup and the Team.
Someone should call out Keefe. This is ridiculous. He should have been fired with Dubas.
I just started watching hockey this year. Before knowing anything about any team or player my Canadian friend got me watching the leafs. Fast forward 2 months later I got a Mathew’s jersey, 2 leafs hats, leafs hoodie, and a leafs flag for the man cave. I am fully invested and man what a year to start liking the leafs. Between the all stars and Mathew’s running for a 70 goal year this team is up and down but over all I’m happy to be a leafs fan. I’ll be going to my first pro game march 20th leafs vs caps. I have been listing to this podcast on Spotify sense the big Nylander contract. Love listing to you guys and getting a better understanding of the sport and players. Keep up the good work boys!!
