I don’t care how we do it, but we need to be stringing together some wins from here on out.

The one play that sticks out in my head is when we were hemmed in our zone and Mercer gave his stick to the D. He defended really well and was able to clear the puck with his foot so it wasn’t an icing and allowed the change.

Mercer’s hockey IQ is top tier for someone his age.

No Toffoli? No Jack? No Dougie? No Siegenthaler? Facing one of the odds-on favorites for the cup?

Can’t wait for the « Now witness the firepower of this fully armed and operational battlestation » moment, if it ever comes

Just seeing that Edmonton lost last night, thank god. The only thing they talked about more on the broadcast was MacKinnon.

  5. I liked the game we saw last night. Nico saying the team was embarrassing before the break seems to have gotten to the guys and they played a really no quit game. Getting in to the tough areas around the net and really fighting for some good chances. Good win boys let’s get on a run now and do more of that.

Not going to complain as I’ll take 2 points any way we can get them especially against top tier teams. Was a bit frustrating to go into panic mode after controlling swaths of the game to go into the 3rd with a 2 goal lead to get absolutely rolled in the period and give up 2 goals in very Devils fashion in 29 seconds to blow the lead. It looked like the Avs had turned it on and were going to keep pouring it on for a regulation win. But the boys bent and didn’t break. Some late period heroics by Vitek kept the game alive and they rallied late for the go-ahead goal. Also played very well after we scored to keep them from pulling the goalie with a lot of time left. Solid D to limit chances and Haula icing the game. It’d be nice to not have a heart attack every single game but that was a much needed 2 points and hopefully something to build on. Hoping to see Jack and Toffoli back in the lineup Thursday!

My favorite part of last nights game was Luke standing up MacKinnon multiple times on the rush with good gap and stick play, he also took the body on Rantanen to end a rush.  The future is bright with Hughes/Nemec, they are both gonna outclass Dougie in the 200ft game in short order.

I have been noticing more offence from Marino recently. I think he has another level to unlock

We need more from Timo and why oh why is Holtz never on the ice?

Great game, definitely gave the blood pressure meds a workout. Highlight was MacKinnon breakaway in the third period hitting Vanecek in the forehead.

I didn’t get to watch the game last night, but looking at the recap, my son and I rolled our eyes at the two-goals-in-30-seconds moment, which in our house is now termed a « Double Lindy ».

Still, I’ll gladly take the 2pts!

    – LUKE HUGHES ladies and gentleman. What in the holy development is going on? I admit I discounted his upside and slotted him in as the lesser Hughes. But recently he’s been showing that he can be just as good as Quinn. I truly believe this

    – Someone in thread yesterday called Holtz first shift « career ending » and I kind of agree. He’s on such an unfairly short leash already. ended up with less than 10 minutes of ice time. God damn.
    – He didn’t always win the 1 on 1 battles but it SO much fun watching Nico battle their top dogs last night. He brought the effort for sure

    – I just really don’t like Lindy Ruff as head coach. I’d be happy to see him as head of player development within the organization, but he’s not a championship caliber coach. And that’s what we need.

    – I have an « Amor fati » approach to Jack’s most recent injury. It was a good thing because if it didn’t happen he would have suffered an even worst injury later on. And it gave the boys time to build confidence without him. This is the mental gymnastics I use and will continue to do so

-As I’m getting older, i’m learning to enjoy close games, even if we lose. To just enjoy exciting hockey and to witness great players like Makar. I know we won this one but I wanted to mention this because i think its a much healthier approach to watching hockey. Otherwise you live in gloomland and thats no fun.

    Go Devils!

Gonna repeat what others have said.

I’ll take the points no matter how ugly it looks. This team is so scrappy and so talented. Given how many AHLers and rookies we have playing right now, I’m not sure how much of this is scouting/player dev, Hischier setting the tone, or even—dare I say it—Lindy. But right now, these wins look like they’re all heart.

That said, it would be nice to feel somewhat secure in a two-goal lead and have some sense of control at, like, any point in a game. But our coaching is what it is right now, and the injuries are the injuries, so I’ll take what I can get for this season. Just praying that some changes are made before 24-25, but I’m not holding my breath.

Still kinda can’t believe last night went down the way it did, from the up 3-1 to the tied 3-3 to the win to the fact they discussed *JBITBPITNHL* live on the air… 🤣 if we can keep it together definitely a win we will look back on as momentous!
